Does anyone know of any aftermarket motors? I have searched google and it brings up 65 ford power window motors, and they look the same. Has anyone had any experince with this?
    Thanks,

Can you hear the motor running/window won't move? Ford makes a plastic gear 'kit' for rebuilding. Last one I bought was around $15 . One part number covers a huge range of vehicles. If the motor is fried there is a good possibility that a later year/model motor will fit.

Ford never did change these much over the years. I can't say for sure, but I'd grab one motor from your car and take it to the local parts house.

My info says same motor for Ford 1964-1997, Lincoln 1966-1996, and Mercury 1965-1997.

It is a year off for your application, but worth a look. If the bolt holes line up and the tooth count, and mounting face match, then they are the same. Some newer models have some plastic parts, though. These don't appear to be a problem.

  6. those round ford motors went thru many years. they are simple to rebuild and gears did fall apart. three nylon blocks. those rear doors also roll down a couple inches when you open the door, it's possible that could have something to do with the problem

I just had a window motor place tell the 65 motor is a 3 wire and the 66 up is a two wire. Said they cant even rebuild them parts arent available anymore. Wonder if I can get the two wire motor to work?

  8. Have you checked with any of the Lincoln resto parts sources? If they can't help directly, they may have a referral for you.

I believe that the 3-wire ones have two windings, two positive wires and one ground, to get two directions.

I believe the 2-wire ones just switch polarity to switch direction.

This would be easy enough to test with a meter. If this is the case, then you can use four relays to use the 2-wire motor in the place of the 3-wire one.

You'd use the "up" circuit to trigger two relays, connecting the motor's two wires to + and -, one way, and the "down" circuit to connect the other two relays the other way.

Yes the 65 is a three wire and the 66 and up is a two wire motor but the motors mount different and the snouts can not be changed. So I really do not see how the later motors can be mated to work. I guess we will just buy some of the NOS $200.00 motors.
Thanks for all of the input.
