I am in the process of channeling my Model A. After many hours of cutting welding and grinding, I find myself doing some MORE cutting welding and grinding and I'm still not done. I'm looking for ideas.... anybody have pics of their A, hot rod or rat rod that they've channeled. More especially I'm looking for the DURING process pics.

Pick up the Mad Fabricators Volume 5.5. That has a partial part where they put the floors in on Live Wire. If for nothing else then you light your *** up with motivation you should get it.

I made a framework, attached the framework to the inside of the body & fastened the whole works to the frame, isolated by rubber pads. It is labor intensive & tedious, but a lot of fun. This one is a 5 1/2" channel.

I'll be channeling my 27 Touring over a Model A frame. My intention is to do something similar, but with out raising the whole floor. I'm planning my floor frame to have "slots" (not sure how to describe this) to drop over the frame rails. I'm only doing this on the front section so I'll have more leg room for driving comfort. The rear section will have the whole floor raised so I'll be able to put the tank and battery under it between the rails.

Here's how it wemt on my 32 roadster. The front mount is a little hard to see in this picture, but it's a tab about 4" wide that was welded to the body and sits on top of the frame and is anchored with two bolts.

That's a good idea, but the frame may get in the way of the "slots." The frame in the pictures I posted is a stock wheelbase Model A frame (although it has been "Z"ed). Note where the frame rails run. Hopefully, I'm wrong, because it is nice to have leg room.

I read in an old mag(can't find it now) about drilling through the mounting holes through the bottom on a stock model A frame.. Remove the rear and center crossmembers of the same frame.. Remove the firewall and then pinch the frame and slide it through the opening and bolt the frame now sitting on top of crossmembers.. reattach middle and rear crossmember, cut and replace firewall and channel done... I often wondered if this would work...........
