Here is my latest...it is not a Rambler...but a Nash 2 door hardtop country coupe Farina edition...1953 Hope to do something with it some day! Little Skeet
Now I'd LOVE to have that big Nash! You know a big block will fit right in under the hood, and the unit body is made similar to the pre 63 Ramblers -- has rails from bumper to bumper. It's basically a bent sheet metal frame welded in with the floor boards! Nash and early Rambler unit bodies are some of the stiffest ever made. I'd make that think look bone stock then park a big block under the hood. AMC didn't use a V-8 until 1955, and that was one they bought from Packard, but the main unit body is basically the same from 49-57.
Make me an offer and it might be yours...I am running out of time and money to do this one right. Little Skeet
Yeah, shipping from Colorado to South Carolina should be like real cheap.... sorry, will have to pass!
Aw Gee...what is $1.30 @ mile freight...Don't blame you. But cars from the high dry plains are 99% rust free. Metal work and replacement is not cheap either. Look at the Lambler and see the rust!! You all take care and happy roddin to everyone..see you Salina with my Mercury! "Wasn't anyone there except me and Little Skeet"
The Rambler is coming along really well. I had a black '61 wagon for a few years. Great car... me and a couple of buddies drove it to California and back right after graduation, then used it for a tow car for my '69 Hurst SC/Rambler on Sundays.
more pictures of the rusty carnage underneath this is all in the bottoms of the rear quarters and inner rocker panels i am getting tempted to part it out at this point. yes i have an impressive spider collection also
That's pretty rough, but if it's all in the rear not too much of a problem. Make sure the front and the main suspension rails ("subframes") aren't rusted up that bad.
the front is worse actually you can see the frame rails kind of in this picture to get an idea of how bad that is
Any updates? You still plugging away on it? You've done an unbelievable job so far! If you continue on, what are you planning for a power plant? Good luck!!!
back trying to get some work done on the rambler here are some pics and thanks for the congrats on being a daddy it has cramped my style working on the rambler but its well worth it the pile so far
Getting ready to start the same repairs to the front of my 62 classic 2 door. Rusted the same way not as bad but bad enough.... great job on your patch panels.Keep up the good work .Ramblers rock
