So I did Aerostar coils about 3 months ago on the box. Yes it is lower, and yes it rides better, however, im wondering if it is low enough? Ive seen pictures of other people's cars with just that done and they are lower than mine, by like an inch. The car is on 14s which ****s for being able to gauge when compared to other cars, but none the less, I was hoping for more. Thoughts? Input? I want my car lower without taking out a second mortgage...

looks good..give it a chance to settle though, then decide if you want to lower it more..

Well Shain you got a few options cut a 1/2 coil or so, use spacers on your lower spring pocket, flip the uprights (which will require heating and bending them to get the geometry right again) or step the lower arms. Cutting the coils or using spacers would be the easiest options.
BTW Ive got the Aerostar springs on mine too and I think they are too soft I wonder if there is another aplication that is dimensionally the same but stiffer spring rate

Yeah, I have looked at your step a lot Mike. I may have to venture you way one weekend and fill your fridge and pay your cable bill, haha. I am almost on the bumpstop right now, so im not sure if I want to cut them. I almost did last weekend, then decided against it. Mine rides great with these, but my factorys were cut and one was bent, haha. It did settle a little over the past few months, maybe 1/8 inch. I think going to 15 or 16 with a bigger white wall would help too?

Im pretty sure you are going the wrong way with this idea.
Keep the 14's and a shorter sidewall tire.

you can only get so much out of them before you have to start cutting stuff my upper control arm was hitting my inners so I had to notch that. Jay notched his frame for more bumpstop clearance which works pretty good too. You are coming up for the Pile up right?

ive been down this road a few times myself. the first thing i do now is buy dropped uprights and be done with it. i know you can swap side to side ( i guess ) and new dropped ones are pricey. once dropped uprights are installed you will be where you want with 15's. i know everybody has their way to get it low, but this is the easiest and i get the results i am looking for. dropped uprights and aerostar coils= good to go!

While this would make the car sit lower it doesnt help the tire/fender opening issue. I think he wants his tire up in the fender opening instead of being able to see the top of the tire.

I agree If you can afford it the dropped uprights and lowered steering arms is the best way

ok, in that case, I would go shorter tire with dropped uprights or spacers.

14's are awesome. You should keep em.:D

**** those 14s, you want em, haha. I want 15s so bad. You got a set? Lets trade. Yeah Mikes right, I want to have the top of the white of the tire in the fender. I would LOVE to get the dropped uprights and steering, but MAN!!! I just feel for 800 or so dollars I could do a lot of other cool stuff.

dropped uprights and steering arms from fatman fab is the way to go,also check out jamco suspension and see what they have to offer. The lower you want to go the more you have to cut, weld and measure.

  16. I installed the Aerostar coils and thought it was still to high also. So I cut 1/2 a coil off and it dropped it another 1 1/4".

fritz youre car is gorgeous. See how much better that looks with the bigger wheel/whitewall? I was thinking about cutting another 1/2 coil but im afraid of riding the bump stop or steering

either way, back to the topic. I think im going to step my a arms after reading the tech. I am going to have a more skilled friend help me as I dont want to put myself or any other people on the road in danger with my non-existent welding skills.

This is mine with flopped stock uprights, cut coils [heavier than ford..thiink they were early olds] trimmed snubbers to 1/2 inch and 14" tires. The tall 15's I originally had came into contact with with inner fenders.
Crossmember would occasionally slap the ground on dips.

those factory bump stops can be trimmed quite a bit too!
