I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Edgar and I own a 53 Chevy 210. I am in the Air Force and I am stationed in England which is pretty bad ass. This forum is cool as hell. I was reffered by some guy from Bob's Auto Glass in the Ebay stores (cool guy) when I asked him about cutting the front and rear windshields on my car. My car is currently being watched by my father who owns a 63 Ford Fairlane (my first car at 16) and a 53 Chevy Pick up in El Paso Texas. I would like to know it there is anyone local here. My plans for the 53 is to bag it first and then chop it. If anyone knows people in El Paso, let me know! Where I can have some work done on my ride. It kinda sucks not being able to work on my car. I used to be in the import scene, mostly VW's and Audis(owned a VW Corrado and an Audi TT) but I grew out of it. I bought the 53 because it's something I've always wanted to do even as a kid, I would see all the Cholos (mexican gangsters) in their Lowriders. Well I guess that is about it, if anyone needs anything from England let me know, no illegal stuff, and I will try and get it to you. I get descent APO shipping, not the best but it will do. Thanks!

Actually it is very cold compared to the desert I lived at, winters were bad but not this cold. It is my first winter here and I do love the scenery and the Pubs and the people at the pubs, beer here is great!

  4. Welcome from Wild and Wooley WisTexan..., "Uh ..., ER..., ' Wisconsin...!!!:D

Judging from your post..., You mustn't have tried a beer called "OLD PECULIAR" ...!!!! That Shit's nasty and has variouse forms of pond life floating about in it...!!!! :D

Of course they say our beer is like making Love in a row boat..., it's too "Fucking Close to Water"...!!!;)

I miss Texas as well..., especially during the winter...!!! At least the UK doesn't get minus 5 degrees F like "WisColdson" but the Dampness will slow you down a bit...!:D

Cheers and enjoy those moments abroad...!!!

Or Bishop's Finger, Pedigree, a Frenchie one called Stella, not bad but they call it the Wife Beater Beer. Oh and no matter what the locals try and tell you, the tv antenna on top of Alexanderia (sp) Palace IS NOT THE EFFIEL TOWER! There is another hotrod site, UK based as well, called UK Hotrods, not bad...not exactly traditional but still a kick in the pants. Marq, MeesterP and myself frequent it, as well as a few others I'm sure. At least it will keep you abreast of the rod happenings in the UK.

Welcome, where are you based in the UK, Fairford or Mildenhall?
Given a choice of beer i still think Sam Adams has it.

  8. Welcome from a ex El Paso native. I used to live there thru my high school years, still have all my family there too. Sure miss the Shiner bock and the cool skate ditches that are everywhere. Juarez was fun as well. While over in UK, try Youngs thats one of my Favs for beer..My goal is to one day open a traditional England style pub here one day..

Youngs is a very good ale though my favourite is Hobgoblin from the Wychwood Brewery. Hmmm......beer.
Stella Artois is loopy-juice so proceed with caution.
Welcome to the UK (as well as the HAMB). Enjoy....

I apologize for not replying in a time, I have been real busy. To answer some of your questions I am at RAF Crougton, that is near Oxford near the A43 and M40. I've been at RAF Lakenheath, Feltwell and Mildenhall for the past 6 weeks taking ALS. I hung out in Newmarket and it was cool. The women are freakin hot!!! I have tried Brittish beer for the first time and it was strong as hell. I am used to Bud light and weiser but this stuff was strong as hell, and the women here can outdrink anyone!! I only tried like three kinds of beer, that were Strongbow(favorite so far), Kronnerbourg (good) and John Smith's(absolute crap). I look forward to indulging in more alcoholic beverages in the future. Anyway I want to thank the locals in El Paso, and I will PM y'all later.

  21. I think we understand how busy you are.. Your drinking water compared to those beers, its an aquired taste for sure, but I love those black beers..

:D If there is a yankee chick that knows the English rodding scene or pub crawling one for that matter~ it would be me! I've got pics of the Hotrod Drags, Hemsby, Dooster and of me vomiting on 3 different men----yes thank you SO MUCH Crafty! Oh and yeah I know only a Californian would fall for the Alexanderia Palace bit.....but it's not my fault Adam's a cruel tart! Picking on a tourist is all the rage in Blighty, damn them---totally pleading the fifth over that one:cool:

Strongbow is cider.. you guys have cider right ? made from fermented apples ?
John Smiths is what we call bitter.
    Kronenburg is french, like stella.

Just stay away from the nasty liquids called "aftershock".. evil evil evil...

  26. Watch out for those sheep at Croughton. Are you a comm type? I have been to every USAF installation in Europe, bar none. Croughton was better when Upper Heyford was open, but there is something to be said for being away from the mainstream USAF.

  27. we dont really have cider, I am sure there is some made here, but everyone that I know who drinks cider drinks cider from your neck of the woods. Such as Blackthorns or Hornsbys (sp?)..

Ohh thanks for the correction, and the tip.
No I am not a Com geek, I am CE Power Pro, and have been for 4 years, and it is a huge change from what I was used to at Holloman in New Mexico. Those sheep are everywhere, but they don't bother anyone. Another one I've been to is West Ruislip, I usually park there and take the tube to central London. I heard that is closing down also.
