Went on a nice 650 mile run to Il. yesterday and picked up a 28-29 sport coupe body. It was made into a roadster in the 50's. Got alot of lead in it. It's rough but it's a start. There was this boatcar forsale in the next town If anyone wants more info on it PM me. It's a sweet alumacraft
how much of the bottom of it is gone? i bet its a hell of a lot better that what im used to building. i can never score something as nice as that. congrats man!
40oz.,I'll drag it out tomorrow and take some more pics. 29murry, I'm thinking 401 nailhead and 40's steelies. The body was channeled already but the floor is gone. More pics tomorrow
Its a sickness!! As we both work to complete or A Tudors, we both have our eyes on roadsters - in my case I picked up a 27 T roadster. Its a sickness in I hope I never get cured of!!
Hey Mike, You better finish off that Sedan first...and to help you out, you can store the roadster at my house Seriously though, If you think about selling it in the future, think of me first! Congrats! Mike
Here's some more pics. There is mud on the bottom inch or two of the body, It isn't gone just blends in with the floor Check out the funky naugahide(sp?) wheelwell thingys. I would love to see what this car looked like back when it was first hotrodded.
I'd leave those "PBD" doors that length..........[pot belly doors] damn a regular roadsters doors are SHORT!!!!
I was looking at that. If I cut off the tops of the doors at the top of the bodyline what would I do for a door handle and latch? Could I just move them down?
nice score but cutting it below the body line is going to give it a funky look, whack off above the body line and your solid. i just think going below the belt is going to through the proportions off when i look at the cowl heights and ect. but **** it aint mine, if you want to cut it low cut it low. as far as exterior handles, you do realize its a roadster right? lol reach in good luck tim
Cool find. I brought one home last summer looks just like it. What was supposed to be a deuce roadster was a chopped up 30-31 model A coupe body. Even had tomato cans welded in to french the tail lights. Made me just as happy as if I had good sense. So far I've rounded up a good frame, another gas tank which I gutted for all the under dash wiring, an early Pontiac 389 and an early Ford 9-inch rear. Got some torque-thrust look-alikes and a 36 Ford front axle. Also picked up some juice brakes for the front. Maybe this summer........
