well its funny how things come back around, my dad and mom owned this chopped and sectioned ford back in the real early 70's. as with most things it was sold to build a car our whole family could cruise in ( he built a show winning 34 ford chopped 4 door sedan for us kids) , so car was sold. i remember the car sitting behind our house and playing in it as a kid. many years later we saw it at a swap meet and then car dissappeared again, then car turned up painted white and dissappeared again, one day i found a picture of it painted red so i posted it on here and low and behold another fellow hamber had owned it at one time but had sold it. i told my dad that it was still around and who would believe but it popped up on craigslist here in portland for sale, i contacted the guy and me and pops headed out to see it, the guy wanted a ton for it, so we sat and told stories took some pictures and left. about a month later i got a e-mail from the guy and he said he wanted my dad to have the car back, so he had a 1965 impala ss factory 327 4speed and he wanted me to do some restoration work, i knew my father really wanted the car back but could never had afforded it so as any good son would do i stepped up and made a deal to make dad a owner. its been a fast 2 month haul to get it done but this saturday my mom and pops get one of there cars back to cruise. it makes me proud to know my father who just turned 70 gets something back for all he has done for me, my brother, our families and friends. my parents always took care of us and its cool to see the smiles on there faces. i know the first thing to go is the disc wheel covers.here's a few pictures of the ford and the impala i did.

hey bigtumtum the impala got a lot of work, but as we all know you do one thing and ya gotta fix ten other things to make that right. it started as get the engine bay and motor clean, disc brakes and a few oddsand ends, that turned intoa complete motor rebuild, complete front end rebuild, heater core, window felts, factory tilt column, exhaust, some paint reapir ect. its been a long haul for sure. the nice thing about the impala it was all numbers match, motor, ******, it looked like most of it had never been apart. so it was also a treat to get it back in shape. ill post more pictures this weekend of my parents and the impala guy when the deal wraps up saturday, thanks for all the comments

Great story. What a terrific pay back for Dad!
Did your dad do the chop and section when he had it in the early 70's or was that work already done? Any previous history on the ca/builder if dad didn't do the mods?

heres some more pictures after the car got a rub out, removed the 3rd brake light and installed lic plate on body again. getting ready to change the wheels and tires, rears are way to much offset and tires are way to big, makes car look like rear end is 3 inches to wide. then its probaly gonna get the fiesta caps. also took out the metal mesh over the tail light lens boy what a differnce that makes, gonna make some new lens and get rid of the ugly blue dots. this week im gonna move the grill back in the hole about 4 inches it makes the car look like it has buck teeth the way they mounted it. lots of work to do but for now dad and mom are out cruising like kids, its a greatday.
