My wife yells at me ,For leaving the phones out in the garage ,They tend to go dead .This time they were in the house getting charged.I havent hurt myself in a long time ,I was just being a little careless and trying to get it done ,Basically I wasnt cautious enough....So dont take things for granted .Especially when you are just going through the motions.

I pretty much work alone... although there are a few guys in the shop next door. I try to keep safety at the forefront of my mind at all times. Aside from all of my tools and equipment, I also have a cabinet filled with flammables, and another filled with gunpowder. Down in the ba*****t I have a concrete room filled with ammunition cannonballs, and explosives.

Yep, just day to day stuff! LOL.

Slow down! Accidents happen when you're hurrying or trying to make something work/fit/just go in there damnit!! Also make sure you're protecting yourself-long sleeves, gloves, saftey gl***es, eye & ear protection when needed.

fell 8 feet through the roof of my office in my shop head first. 8:45 at night and nobody around for miles. broke 4 ribs and screwed up my shoulder. I was able to get up, but no one was around to come help. ended up calling an ambulance.

if I had landed different and broke my back or something I could very well have been stuck there for days until someone noticed I was missing. I live by myself and at work I'm the only guy there.

I always work alone. Oddly enough out of all the serious bleeding injuries I have had, the closest I came to death was choking on dry vegetable fried rice. No ****.

Use a bit of superglue on your wounds and keep going.

    Quote from Wikipedia
"Superglue was in veterinary use for mending bone, hide, and tortoise shell by at least the early 1970s.[citation needed] The inventor of cyanoacrylates, Harry Coover, said in 1966 that a superglue spray was used in the Vietnam War to retard bleeding in wounded soldiers until they could be brought to a hospital. Butyl cyanoacrylate has been used medically since the 1970s outside the US"

  21. That's funny, cause all I use is electrical tape. Way better than band-aids:)

Two years ago I was using my grinder to remoce a rusted nut on the rear end of my buick- it was at a bad angle and I hit the side of the grinder on
something it kicked across my chest and into my left biceps. There was no
one else around so I went in, washed it off realized I needed s***ches, changed my shirt, went to drive to the ER, the truck had a dead battery.

Climbed up the stairs to the loft of the barn, brought down the starter/.charger, jumped the truck, drove to the ER. Took 20 s***ches to
close my arm. Worst part was the ER staff laff's over the tshirt I had grabbed - it was from the red cross and said got blood? It's yours to give!

I even had dug out my safety gl***es before I started the job and was
wearing them- something I do not do often enough! Jim

I've been working alone for many years now the one thing you learn by working alone is not to get excited when something goes all haywire on ya. Keep a cool head and deal with the situation at hand. Wosrt thing I can recall was when I was working on an old window regulator (spring loaded kind) well a slight miscalulation and my index finger was in between two pieces of steel. I went to the vice, clamped one side in the vice used the uninjured hand to pull the other side back enough to free my finger. This happened about 25 or so years ago and I still sport a huge scar at the top of that finger. But that could be my fault as I just cleaned it up, wrapped it with gause and black tape.

I have pointing dogs and keep EMT Gel when I'm hunting in case they run into whatever. I hate going to doctors, so I've found it works really well on me too. Closes up wounds- google it and you'll find it, they have a spray also....

I keep a styptic pencil and masking tape handy. They take care of just about everything. At 66 I just had my first s***ches ever from a cut/wound yesterday. I tripped over some briars in the woods and jamed a broken off branch into my forearm just below the elbow at an angle and deep enough that the doc could see a tendon. I drove myself to ER and got 3 s***ches

I friend of mine dropped a car with air bags on his foot, at that time the car didnt have compressors, they were just using the shop air. He wasnt alone, but he wasnt about to ask for help either, it took him 15 mins to reach get an air line so he could raise the car back up
