After I finish my first volksrod I was thinking of doing another- just a bit different...

Either a corvair turbo engine in the back
Or find one that is FUBAR and stick a V8 of some variety in it, get creative with a S10 chassis and stuff the rad in the back of it.

THEN... throw a 30s style front end on, and find a way to lift the bugger up like a gasser.

    Would be kinda cool- right?

    Eh.

I was thinking of going as hold school and hokey as I can with the thing.
Nothing makes me want to vom more then the rows of billet covered crap I see at car shows, or the super new stuff I see.
    I like old stuff.

Sadly, I haven't the HUGE budget for something TOO insane- that and every bit of fab work I do will involve a lot of cut weld and pray.

    Crap.

Its been done, its just a matter of making it look not like a chopped and chewed POS.

I remember being told once the only rule of hotrodding was either go fast or look good.

maybe, but there are rules here on this board which you should have read when you signed up.

You did read the rules and such before you hit the register button right?

You could say that anything sucks with out a V8.
Hell I doubt that a model Ts stock engine is anything more then a bit of scrap money for anyone that ever made a T-bucket. But you stick a V8 in that T, you have something awesome.

And frankly, I have neither the money or the time (thats to my lovely schedule at work) for some 70,80, or 90 year old body.
I can't do body work that well yet, and I really don't have the patience.

What rules on what I am aloud to like/have ideas about doing?
    Kinda ludicrous.

The fact that it is or isnt a bug is moot. It could be a model A, a wheel barrow or a Honda.

I'll be using american suspension parts, odds and ends from american cars, and trying to do what hotrodding set out to do a LONG time ago, go fast.
Since when did rules come into play about what you can and cannot hotrod? Are the guys in europe (ie Scandinavia) not hot rodders because they cant use American made stuff?

Hell, if I go V8 the car will just look like a bug and thats it.

    And what makes it traditional?
You could say then that some totally fabbed up car Chip Foose made isnt a hot rod.

  14. a bug is a bug, and it does matter here. i'm sure that there are plenty of other forums to shop your idea.

this forum is not for what you want to do,,, find a vw forum, ratrod forum, person that doesnt get it forum, this is a tradtional hot rod forum, as defined by the owner and creator of this forum. Volksrods are not included here.

you can do whatever you want to your car, but we dont discuss those kinds of cars (things) here.

here why dont you reply in one of these threads about volksrods,,,

You like what you like, no one here is telling you not to like it, and in all honesty, the responses you have gotten off the idea are on the extreme pleasant side.

Do some research. Traditional American hot rods are just that. Don't be discouraged from your idea, but this is not the site you will be gaining a lot of support, if any. Keep it up and keep building cars, go for it. But the HAMB is really just not the right place.

  17. You wanted to know what we think about your IDEA? Right!

The HAMB has a Aircooled Social Group.

    You should check it out...

As far as Bugs on the HAMB itself,

Sorry, apart from some very rare exceptions they are Off Topic.

Wheel barrows and Honda's are too...
