Well this'll be out of left field, but I can't help but post on a music thread that's gone on for 5 pages. I second all the votes for XM. FM in general is evil. Except for NPR. Car Talk is no hot rod extravaganza, but those guys are great. Anyway, here are some songs randomly pulled from my brain:

White Stripes - Big 3 Killed my Baby
Public Enemy - the '98 Olds one
    Cake - Stickshifts and Safetybelts

This was going to be a longer list but I lost my train of thought. Damn work always distracting me.

Wow, did you make that iMix? I've looked at it before, 'cause it's the only iMix with the Road Kings on it.

Here's my favs that haven't been listed yet.
    'billy:
    Three Bad Jacks
    Road Kings
    Deke Dickerson

    Stoner Rock:
Dozer (you guys gotta check them out! they're on www.stonerrock.com)

    Rock:
    Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
    Black Keys
    Hellacopters

Also, check out compilations. I have one called "The heart and Soul of Rock and Roll" GREAT compilation with a bunch of lesser played stuff.

I was looking at getting some Cave Cat Sammy. any thoughts?

  6. Just went to see Shaun Young (krupanut) play a gig near me,and he rocked. He's got a new c.d. out.He also has a few with the group HIGH NOON.Very cool stuff.I also like the Hillbilly Hellcats. There is a huge,in fact it is said to be the largest Rockabilly fest ever coming to my neck of the woods,in April,11-16,at Oneida bingo and casino in Green bay, just down the road from Lambeau Field.5 days and like 50 acts, admission is only $10 per day or $40 for whole event.I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!Shaun if you read this the offer still stands for beers at my house.

If you don't already have it (which you should) The essential Sun Sessions by Johnny Cash is excellent.

For some punk and country, check out the Supersuckers. They're damned good at both.

Of course, any Hank III can't be beat.

Finally, if you like any type of metal, Black Label Society's Hangover Music Vol. IV is full of some cool mellow tunes with a southern rock vibe.

Dave King lives on with Flogging Molly..... I wish he would bring back the spandex though.

  17. I'm a dork...

I have a few CD's of 70's R&B/Soul songs I downloaded off Napster and burned before they got busted and started charging, Curtis Mayfield, Impressions, Isaac Hayes, Stevie Wonder (nothing later than Songs in the Key of Life), Spinners, Temps, Tops, Glady's Knight, Brothers Johnson, etc. All the stuff they played on CKLW when I was a (little) kid. I also have copies of all the White Stripes CD's,
SCOTS Dirt Track Date and Motley Crue are also on hand if I need it.

Then I have a XM Roady I bought an AC adapter for and can listen to Fungus when I need to drown out the grinder or Fred.

I can only listen to rockabilly live, the crapping recordings annoy me.

This thread just won't go away. I don't remember what's been mentioned anymore, but how about:

    The Black Keys
    Eagels of Death Metal
    Gang of Four
    The Ramones
    The Clash
    Public Enemy

Just the music that's on my mind today.
