I have a 54 ford driveshaft & 85 AOD trans yoke. I Need a# for a 3" by 3.5" u- joint. Think Ford had them back in the 60's. Posted this before but it did'nt come up.

If you take your dimensions - exact length and diameter of the caps - to a GOOD parts house, they should be able to find what you need. But it will be in a book under the counter, not on the computer screen.

The 3" x 31/2" doesn't sound right but I believe you are looking for a
    5-134x u-joint.
One side is a series 1310 and the other 1330.

Here is some info I found that may help.

    U-Joint Cross Reference:
Are all the numbers confusing you? 1310 series, 1350 series, 5-297X and so forth? Here's a sizing chart:
    The Dana 35 & Dana 44 front axles use Part# 5-297X which is a 1310 Series u-joint.
    <TABLE borderColor=#808080 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="50%" align=center border=1><TBODY><TR><TD align=middle width="23%">U-joint Series</TD><TD align=middle width="36%">U-Joint Width (inches)</TD><TD align=middle width="41%">Cap Diameter (inches)</TD></TR><TR><TD>1310</TD><TD>3.219</TD><TD>1.062</TD></TR><TR><TD>1330</TD><TD>3.625</TD><TD>1.062</TD></TR><TR><TD>1350</TD><TD>3.625</TD><TD>1.188</TD></TR><TR><TD>1410</TD><TD>4.188</TD><TD>1.188</TD></TR><TR><TD>1480</TD><TD>4.188</TD><TD>1.375</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

    Conversion U-Joints:

Need to connect a flange(s) and/or yoke(s) together that each use a different size u-joint? Here's a list of ****er conversion universal joints:
    1310 to 1350 = ****er 5-460X
    1310 to 1330 = ****er 5-134X
    1330 to 1350 = ****er 5-648X

    Using your info>>>>
    54 ford car needs 1.00 dia. x 2.342 wide # 1-3600
    85 ford car needs 1.063 dia. x 3.219 wide # 1-5900
    Conversion joint for above == # 1-3650

    Info from NEAPCO catalog
    Good luck
    Dave
