hi all my names jj im from wa state and have a 64 merc montclair marauder that i'm starting to restore. it was originally my dads and when my mum threatened to take it to the junk yard so she could put a garden where it was he called me. the original 390 that was in the car blew up and it has a 351 windsor in it right at the moment. i found a 64 park lane marauder that had a 390 in it and was told it originally had a 390 pi in it but that it had problems while still under warranty and when they took it to the dealer the dealer gave this engine to them to replace the pi. thought i had found a pretty solid 390 however when i started getting into the engine i discovered it had the 390 super marauder stickers on the valve covers... the bore is reading 4.05 and the stroke is measuring 3.98... which according to my findings makes it a 410 but i know they didn't actually produce a 410 until 66. the engine is still clean enough that you can see all the part numbers on the insides and they are all 64 and before. so it has turned into a fun puzzle! any input would be awesome!!! my plan is to restore the body as close to original as i can and then depending on what i find out about the engine i was thinking about making it a 445 stroker.....
