Today I was out at yblock292's place and was looking over a build he's doing. I didn't recognize what the body was off of. Jack just said it was a model T...and the owner said it was a model T. But after some discussion maybe we're not so sure. I think it's a Dodge Brothers....or something. I'm not convinced it's a Ford. But then again I really don't know Model T's very well. Would anyone like to shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!
OK that actually helps. After a search it seems that it may actually be a '26-'27 roadster coupe front end!
Chatted with my old man about it and he said they built bodies like this that could be either a roadster coupe or a roadster pickup. Really seems like the 'Henry Ford' thing to do. (because it's cheaper to make one set of tooling that could work for multiple cars)
He's partly correct, but not entirely. Some of the parts (cowls/doors) interchange between roadsters, roadster pickups, and touring cars. However, a T roadster and a T coupe are completely different bodies.
definately FORD '26-'27 Model T roadster .................. all your missing is the turtle deck ( roadster back ) cheers
Ha no we dont sir it was hard enough to get jerry not to put it back stock dont mess up all my hard work and conversations ha now i got some body work to do lol great job so far jack thanks a bunch
Definitely a roadster missing the rear part of the body. By the way there is no such thing as a "roadster coupe".
The funny thing about that pic is that that's actually a true turtledeck roadster with a pickup bed added. The real roadster pickup back panels didn't have the embossed stamping on the back as seen here. Also the rear quarter extensions came back much further on a true RPU. Quite a common thing to do during the depression era when fuel was rationed. You could get more fuel for a pickup than a p***enger car.
^I've been searching around for a real deal RPU body but I can't come up with much. So the back of a RPU was smooth and not stamped correct? Otherwise the side panels were interchangable with the exception of the quarter extensions on the back of the RPU body.
