I would like to say Hello to all the hamber's that stopped by and said Hi....it was great talking to every one of you...it is really nice putting a face to a name on the computer.....over all the sales were down this year, most of the other vendors I talked to were not happy overall.....THURSDAY---and there is nothing worse than sitting all day in the camper and watching it rain.....some dye hard people were out walking around but all they saw were blue and silver tarps over all the parts....FRIDAY and SATURDAY the weather was great and the crowd was very good.....stan
Stan, thanks for being there-even if we didn't meet. I thought Friday was a perfect day to be there, weather wise, and the grounds were great considering all the rain. Don't know why your sales were down, but there were quite a few empty vendor spots-weather or economy it's hard to tell. If you only have Thursday off from work, you might not come-and the weather wasn't great Friday morning if you were starting out in NJ or NY so maybe some folks didn't come. They've raised the parking fee in the Armory lot to $10, which is a bit steep and I've heard from the attendants that next year it will be taken over by vendor spots-if that's true it's silly. They can't fill all the vendor spots now and where will the customers park if it's all vendors? Anyway, better luck and see you next year, I hope.
Stan & Jim. It was nice to meet you on Saturday. The mol***es crumb cake was awsome. Thanks so much. I was there friday to sunday. It was a beautiful weekend to do some picking. I went back Sunday to see if you were still there. I'll have to come up and see you to pick up those 4 door trim pieces (I'm the guy down in Reading area). I don't post much on here but these are 2 outstanding guys. They aren't afraid to teach/educate the new guys old tricks. I did learn alot this weekend. Thanks so much.
What I don't get is why some of the venders seem to open so late and close so early--you'd think that if they want to sell their items they'd be open for business as long as possible. We always get there by 7 A.M. and stay until 5 P.M. and it's amazing to see the times venders open and close. Also noticed an increase in carpenters tools and other types of products.
I've always wondered how so many vendors selling 1. Offshore-made tools 2. Electrical components like solderless connectors 3. car care products can all stay in business. Also never figured out how the guys selling new Craftsman tools can do it so much cheaper than Sears. If there is a "seconds" mark or something,I never have found it, so I ***ume they all have the guarantee. Even duplicated, I am happy to see all the vendors there, but I agree they have some odd hours.
I agree 100% we were there from late wednesday to friday night, and there were people still not open at 9:00 am on friday morning, stay home if you don't want to sell stuff, and places started closing up shortly after 4 on friday afternoon. Thrusday was just a wet right off, I bought some stuff but 80% were closed on for the day. Eric
We were thinking the same thing, Why camp out there and not open early? We got in the gate about 7:15 and many venders in the first isle were still closed up. We ended up going back and rewalking the first two isles on the way out.
I sell at Carlisle both spring and fall, and as long as I'm sitting in my spaces, I'm open for business. Unless the weather dictates otherwise(like it did on Thursday), my parts are uncovered until dark.
