FWIW, on another board that I'm on (not car-related) they have a separate "intro" sub-board. It works pretty well over there. I can really see this being a good thing for the HAMB. I'm certainly not an old fart (at least not HAMB-wise), but I have run into the exact scenario that Ryan mentioned several times. I think it'd be cool to have the ability to check the newbies in on their own board.
thats exactly what i was thinking. i don't read em and only occasionaly look at them if there are pics attached.
Coming from a new guy....i think that's a good idea. i mean if i wanted to register and my profile got put in a subcategory that wouldn't bug me. kinda cool the mandatory thing. i remember my first post i didn't know the rules about the intro. then studedude was so kind to help me out. thanks for listening. p.s the place is the coolest in the world! _T
I am as guilty as anyone for hacking on newbe's not posting an intro , but after a while it seemed pointless to be hacking on people who may not even know of it, I think we may be losing some good people by all the hammering they get for not doing it , admittedly some (like lately)have some thin skins and prolly don't belong here ,Is the Intro thing now a condition of joining as in- you MUST do one? or still just an expected thing ? maybe a hard fast RULE about it would help.Just a Thought , been a while since i looked at the conditions of joining/rules area so it may have been addressed,In which case i'll shut my yap,ML
This post is killing me!!! Damn Ryan are you all hepped up on goofballs again? Burst out in laughter and everyone at work thinks I finally snapped.
while i read 'em occasionally, i never reply to 'em. it does seem stupid to use 'WELCOME TO THE HAMB' as the entire post content, you know? these posts also- man, that's a fascinating AND useful post...(kind of like this one) p.s. when i tried entering a whole line of 'smilies', it spit it back, saying there were too many images. dang, how am i gonna get my post count up at this rate?
