I'm in the process of building an 86 Chevy SWB. 355 with h-beams, Keith Black flat tops, noisey gear drive (purely for the irritation factor), 270 comp cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer RPM, Edelbrock 650 CFM Carb, built 700R4, and a 12 bolt with 373's. QUESTION: I have a set of 3782461 head with 202/160 valves. I would like to use the heads on my application, but no drilled accessory holes in the heads. Can these be drilled without complication? Would this be a good combo for what I'm building? Thanks for any input, even the ****-heads that will have something S/A to say. You crack me up! Thanks
I have seen a few drilled, but if you haven't invested a lot of money in them, you could sell them and buy a set of later style sportsman type heads and already have the bolt holes you need.
I run those heads on a similar, but higher performance SBC that I use for a back-up race motor in the Vette - for when I blow up the wilder motor - they work great. But I agree with the previous comment - unless you have a lot of money invested in them it is not worth trying to drill them. You don't have the flat bosses to drill into, which means you won't have a flat surface for the accessory brackets to rest on. There are plenty of SBC heads that flow as good as these heads that already have holes !
