I just got this for free, was looking for any info on this?
It's marked Cal Custom Gardenia, Calif. Part no. 10-20

Is this half of a scoop, or does it bolt onto a hood? Carb base plate?
What era is it from? Looks 1960's to me.
Value? There's not a broken spot on it.

Now I've got to make a new Custom mailbox for out front!:D

Those were made in the 60s-70s to bolt onto a hood and normally came in pairs. You can run one if you like or sometimes a single pops up on epay...a mailbox is a cool idea...but make sure noone can steal it...value is hard to tell nowadays and like I said they came in pairs...maybe around $100-$150 or so.. maybe more?

I know its not, but to me looks like it belongs on a hot rod boat engine. has that shape to it that screams "I'm on the water and I don't care if your fishing"

Generally mounted in pairs, but mounted off center proudly displays your an inline kind of guy! Would love to have one for my '64 250 powered Nova.

Those are named Panthers. I really like them and even toyed with the idea of using a pair on my Comet. Heres my NOS set, they came from the factory in gray primer:

The one you have would make a good aircleaner top for a tripower setup.
