Bad weather Roadster ride :: Post yours!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kellys Hot Rod Parts, Oct 4, 2010.

  1. Grandma and I take our grand daughter Marlie to the Nekoosa Pumpkin Festival and car show for her Birthday every year. The girls always pick what car we take and they are great sports, this year it was a 150 mile round trip roadster ride starting in 30 degree weather, with a heavy Wisconsin frost!. We had a great time thanks to our cold weather gear. heres some pics to show that to some people its never to cold to own a 32 roadster..... If you have some pics of your roadster being used and enjoyed in less than perfect weather fell free to post em here!!

  5. The weather may be cool, but this is heartwarming to read about. You're creating memories that will last her lifetime!

I had been up all night the night before hotrodarama trying to get my 27 to the show.
I only wired ignition, charging and brake lights so had to leave before dark in Seattle rain.

  11. My video... and a couple of photo's... the one with the Jacket was a cold ride to the "Hunnert Car Pile Up" and the other was a 650 mile trip to Mokan and I went through a few showers but the last one had me looking for a Bridge to hide under after I saw lightening striking on each side of me!!!!

With 20,000 miles of "Up Nort" ******* fun there were many miles of thunderstorms, lightning strikes and hub deep flood waters that I couldn't film because it would've destroyed the camera!

Cold weather means that you snuggle up closer to the firewall... here's my last drive in the Rocket sled (temp was in the upper 30's) before it was shipped to the middle of Kansas where the present owner took it for his first winter Roadster ride in New snow!

I've encountered a few sub-optimal weather events in the short time I've been driving my roadster, but don't have photographic evidence (I suppose that's one of the hazards of traveling alone.). I can say that the confirmed temperature envelope is at least 15 F to 117 F. Rain is often sort of an inconvenience, but sometimes welcome for the cooling effect. Snow is tolerable if you have the right equipment (clothes mostly), but ice fog ****s.

Sometimes the worst weather makes the best memories.

This is us coming home from Del Mar a couple years ago, got tired of the p***ing semi's throwing slush in the car so decided to take refuge under an overp***.

This is from a few years ago, it was cold and wet and no roof and well when I got to the show I had to wait out the front for them to open the gate, luckily I had an umbrella! it wasn't that bad when I set off , bit of a drizzle, but you take the chance thats what owning a roadster is about.

18* and haulin' ***. Man, that was fun. Torrential downpours are always a good time in a roadster.

Da Tinman - Wow! ... I didn't know there was an earthquake in Morris, Illinois last year ... all joking aside, what "bad weather" is being depicted in your photo?

The first big drive in the T was to a car show North of here. Not cold, but about 90 miles of rain. Had a blast. Friends rolling down the road not really given' a **** about the weather.

Several weeks ago, start of the drive....couldn't be happier. Mid-Upper 40's, A little rain (ok a lot of rain) but hey it ain't so bad....right?

Game faces, Hard to tell were having fun...but we really were. This is about 200 miles into 40 degree rain soaked ride. Let my dad have the wheel for awhile.

This weekend, notice the smile it was 39/40 when I left the house, but I could tell it was going to be sunny (this was at sunrise). Notice I donned some extra headgear...

By far my favorite ride was the early morning drive to Frankenmuth Autofest a few year back. Raining like hell and FastEddie in his T roadster and I in mine leading the way at prolly 100 plus. Afterall, the faster you go, the drier you stay; right?

  25. Now, just to satisfy a curiosity of mine... how many of you run in the rain without wipers?

  26. Wipers and windows?........We don't need no stinking wipers or windows!!!

Been driven my roadster for 13 years. Love it!!! I've driven in rain, ice, snow and 100+ degree weather. Don't need wipers for the windshield, but a little rainX on the sungl***es helps the water shed from the gl***es. Drive to work past few weeks, 45/46 degrees at 6:30 am, just bundle up and enjoy!
