I can't get to my car at the moment to do the measurement so can anyone tell me what the width of a stock 1937 Chevrolet Master coach rear end is from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface?

    Thanks for the help.

And now I realize that the backing plate to backing plate measurement would also be helpful in finding a replacement open drive rear end.

I don't have those measurements, but my coupe has a rear end out of an 80s midsize GM wagon.

I would really suggest measuring the wheel openings. The stock rear end width on 30's GM's is not always the best fit for the fenders when the car is dropped. I made that mistake and bought a rear to match stock and when I rolled it into place it looked silly. Once I started noticing, I have seen far too many otherwise nicely built cars with rear ends sized to match stock and the fenders stick out 4" past the tires front and back.

i have a 75 nova rear in my 37 coupe. have to watch my backspacing as the tires are very close to the fender lip and i have 38 fenders which are supposed to be a bit wider.

A close friend has a '37 coupe with a late '70's/mid 80's Mid size GM rear end (A or G body) and it fits great and he is using 7" corvette rally wheels. His rear tires, however, are 215/65/15 or some such in that range.
