I've been to traffic school a few times (was a little crazy in highschool), and believe it or not I actually learned some things that I still remember/use today.

Sucks. I got nailed for 52 in a 40 last year, between online traffic school and the city "fees" it cost ~$100. Last week I rolled thru a stop sign (if front of a cop - he was sitting in a church parking lot 1/2 block to my right, blind corner for me) and got nailed. Plead nolo contrende and pay $201. Traffic school's not a option this time, less than three years since my last one.
Moral of the story, watch out for the taxman in the black and white car with the light bars.

  3. At least you can go to Traffic School and get the points taken off. As a Commercial Driver, if I get a ticket, in my own car, on my own time, I CANNOT go to Traffic School. It stays on my record for a number of years.
As well, the legal limit for DUI for someone with a CDL is 1/2 the limit for everyone else.
It's normally .08, but for Commercial Drivers, again, in their private car, on their own time, it's .04... that means I can't have a beer with dinner, and then drive somewhere.

  4. I'm going through that right now!!! I can't even pass someone with out having to hear that phrase!!!

    huh..funny
they did it for me, I had 2 tickets put "under advisement" their words..
both were speeding tickets..I paid the fine, stood infront of the magistrate..and after 6 months without another ticket,,the points came off..

maybe they arent doing this anymore? IDK..i havent had one in a long long time..over 15 years or more..trust me ..I didnt pull this outa my ass

    well i found a michigan story..read it..
this was not me..found it on the web

What is the name of your state?
    Michigan
    In a quick nutshell:
I got a ticket for reckless driving (squealed the rear tires) in July 2004. I hired a lawyer right away and got a court date for Sept. 2004. The court postponed the court date 3 times until finally Feb. 2005. The ticket was placed under advisement for a period of 6 months, I was told not to get into any trouble at all and the ticket would be dismissed

Maybe you just need to know how to ask?, Bill

I got a parking ticket in LaGrange, Illinoise in 1962 and the ticket was printed on a convienient envelope that let you put in the cash and drop it in a mailbox on the corner. How thoughtful of them.

Got a 65 in a 55 zone ticket a few years ago-did the online traffic school. Man, that was a breeeeeze! I blasted through it in about an hour or so. Paid the fine, no points, done.

Years ago, I went to a real traffic school. Absolute TORTURE!!! Had to spend 8 hours listening to a retired CHP Officer drone on and on about traffic infractions, what's the legal distance for this, how long it takes to stop at 35mph as opposed to 45mph, blah, blah,, blah...I almost didn't make it...I wanted to choke the guy...

I know they even had COMEDY TRAFFIC SCHOOLS in CA for a while. They figured no reason you need to suffer while being there, so some comedians got together and started comedy traffic schools, run by smart assed comics-met the requirements, I heard they made a fortune-no joke!

I always wondered why those white signs with numbers on em were for. I always thought they were mere suggestions......

one time at a rod run years ago a guy was saying that he was self employed , and when ever he did work for a cop he would add a "surcharge" to their bill. As he put it , "who better to pay for my tickets than the people who write them" . Maybe he was onto something there .

How much were you over by? In WA, if you were on a 2 lane and had to use the oncoming lane to pass you can legally go over the speed limit by 20mph. At least that's what I remember from drivers ed 10 years ago... If you were under that, I would take it to court. You can also deffer tickets in WA, and if you keep your nose clean for 1 year the ticket is dropped. But, you can only do that every 7 years.
