Tingler hooked me up with a 2.3 and T-5 a while back. Capt. Zorro found me a stainless tubular header and Crestliner brought me an EFI lower intake manifold for it. Flattop Bob sold me a dust shield for the engine. I've had a one-man modified buzzing around in my head for the past few years - its getting louder and louder. At the Nashville swap meet last weekend I found this nice cowl top. I cut 6.75 inches out of the center and now it waits on the wall while I finish the RPU. Anyone know what year it might be? If I can find some repro cowl sides (or good originals) I can make the remainder of the body. TIA, JH
kinda looks like early 20s Model T to me. sounds like a cool project, can't wait to see it under way.
I'm certain it is a T part. The old man I bought it from sets up every year at Nashville with a truck load of T ch***is parts and watches people walk past it all weekend long. He was pleased to see a "young guy" interested in Model T's. If he only knew.......... JH
jim, isn't that sort of like buying a hubcap that you like and building a car around it??? sounds like you're well on your way. you drivin' your rpu to nsra knoxville this year?
Atch, this project was really born when I got the 2.3 and trans so it isn't THAT bad. So far I have a motor, trans, '40 Ford wheels, and cowl top. What more could a guy ask for? As for the RPU, I'm making good progress but to shoot for the Nats South would be a bit ambitious. I'll have to thrash to make it to the Hot Rod Reunion in June - but I think it can be done. You coming over? JH
A narrowed and lightened Ford nine inch rear end made by Speedway Engineering. It measures 51 inches from wheel flange to wheel flange, has gun-drilled axles with disc brake rotors and a Detroit "locker". I think the gear ratio is a 4.11 or 4.56. The housing bracketry is a swing-arm suspension for a Nascar Goody's Dash Series car. I'm in Kansas but I may be headed to Indianapolis in a week or two...maybe sooner.
Thanks man but any way you cut it, that sounds expensive. I'm on the 999 plan. That has me looking for a $50 Ranger pick up rear end. JH
No problem Harrison. You might consider the rear end used for Legends race cars. They are salvaged from Toyotas (maybe trucks?) and are strong. Many gear ratios available too.
Hahaha, just wait till I TELL him You better have that rpu at HRR-BG, or expect a collective HAMB ***-kickin from your geographical friends mid-tenn mike
