One Thanksgiving, my nephew had blown up his car speakers (again!), and was replacing them. He gave me his old blown up ones when I asked for them. Now I have a pair of nice 5 lb. magnets to hold things together so I can tack weld them.

Go to a fab shop with a punch press and look in the s**** bin :D
Works for me every time and there FREE
For the odd sized holes just make them a real size with a unibit.

what about fillin a hole that was cut out by drillin a bunch of little holes in a circle

  10. Draw a circle around it to clean it up and cut a new circle out of sheetmetal and weld it back in..

Br*** is a alloy of copper and zinc and weld form a mig wont stick to it either. You can get br*** sticks in different sizes from any decent metal shop. You can also take copper plumbing pipe and flatten it out and put a 45 degree bend to hold it against the inside of the panel. Differnt sizes and shapes allow you to get the backer material in small areas behind the body panel in tight areas.

Attached is the two main backer peices I use and honestly, I am not sure it they are br*** or copper, but they work great. I think they are br*** and I labeled the pic as such, but they are really heavy for their size, so they could be copper.

Sometimes when I go to my jobsite I'll stop and pick up some knock-outs off the floor. They're usually 1", so I asked and electrician where the 1.5" ones were and got a handful of those too. My superintendent was looking at me like I'm a nut, then I told him what I needed them for and he still looked at me funny. :) I told him if hot rodding was easy everyone would do it.
