I'm looking to get a set of shocks, around 7" compressed, 12-13" extended, and would like to get them today from a local parts store. Anybody have a list of make and models that would be in that range?

dang, just went through it, and if it was the right size, it didn't have the right ends.

What is the exact mounting you need for both ends? Im guessing a bushing and sleeve top and bottom but what size I.D. does the sleeve need to have and what widths do you need? Also what vehicle are they going on and what motor is in it for aproximate valving purposes? I have several shock books I can check. Send me a pm

late-60's SAAB has 5/8" ring ends on both and has similar dimensions - got mine at autozone for around $30 a pair. Might be the same ones Carfanatic mentioned.

It's going on the back of my '40 sedan, and the mounting points and styles are yet to be determined. The axle tubes have mounts that the previous owner put on with 5/8" studs, but I haven't fab'd the upper mounts yet. I'm actually waiting to do that until I can get a set of shocks, but some of the prelim measurements are pointing to a short shock.

The vintage Austin Mini's shocks worked for me. They are not gas, and have loops both ends. Nice and short.

a 40 weighs a fair bit more than a mini. I'm having the same problem finding shocks for my 40, and i'm in the U.K!
