I searched and found nothing on this subject, so could any of you Mac guys tell me how to post photos from a Mac. I am trying to post either from my desktop or iPhoto, but nothing seems to work. I have a huge library of photos and posting them to a hosting service is ***bersome and time consuming. Any tech help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks, Weasel

DO yourself a favor and get a photobucket account and post them from there. Otherwise it's just the same.

I work on my mac exclusively..

iPhoto do an export (file->export) Select .JPG as the format, select a directory on your hard drive (volume)..

Then do a post like normal here, in the advanced section below the box you type in is the additional options, press the manage attachments there and attach you photos.. Upload, close the attachment window and you're done.

Regardless of whether you have a Windows, Linux, or Mac-based computer, if you want to get your photo on the internet you either 1) have to upload to service that hosts photos (Photobucket, Flickr, Picasa, HAMB albums/attachments), 2) have your own rented server space (free or paid), or 3) have your own web server. In most cases, Option 1 is the best choice.

There are 3rd party software programs and iPhoto plug-ins that allow for easy uploading to the various photo hosting services. If you don't want to deal with the website interface, those are probably the way to go.

Ihave had a Photobucket account for a couple of years but I now am faced with the option of paying to upgrade to the Pro version or figuring out another way. I looked at Picasa and may go that route or post my photos to my MobileMe account, but I figured there must be a relatively simple way to post direct from my iMac. I'll try the solution suggested by rschilp - thanks fellas.

I'm no expert, just a self taught novice. I go to iPhoto and flag the photos I wish to post. I type my text portion in the box, then select "Go Advanced" from the "Quick Reply" box. The "Additional Options" box opens below. I select "Manage Attachments" under "Attach Files". From the "Manage Attachments" box select "Choose File". From the window that opens select "photos". iPhoto opens, and from there select "Flagged". Your previously flagged photos appear. Select one photo at a time, go to the bottom of the window and select "Choose". The "Manage Attachments " box re-opens with your file in the top "Choose File" box. Select the next "Choose File" below and repeat the process until all you photos are listed in the box. Select "Upload" and wait a few seconds for the "Uploading Files" notification to disappear. Go back to he "Reply to Thread" box and select "Preview Post", and there are you photos. This posts them as thumbnails, and I think 15 photos are the limit. It's really quick and easy.

I've found that .png don't work, if that is the problem. To fix: open the picture, click 'Save As...', and choose to save as a JPEG format.

Photobucket is the key really. Otherwise it's a PITA. I use PictureSync to put all my pics straight onto Photobucket from iPhoto. It also works for most of the other picture services.

I don't post many photos but when I do I import them to my user profile here. Then I open a 2nd window for what I want to post and copy and paste the url from my photo, in my album. I get big sized pictures, not thumbnails. Thumbnails ****!

Go to Manage Attachments (Advanced) and at the top of the page where it say Choose File you can drag photos directly from iPhoto and drop them there. Then upload.

I also had problems with my mac, but I didn't understand how to do it. Flatoutflyin post is correct. Try it. However IF your picture is too "large" it will not post. It will need fewer pixels to work. I have several pictures with that problem and I don't know how to solve it....yet. -Norm
