I think I got SCREWED!!

It was poor reading comprehension on my part... glad you got things squared away and all is good

 

I had a similar instance where my then-wife and I bought a car while overseas from a fellow member of the military. My then-wife knew the guy and I really didn't, but the price was right and the guy was in a pinch. The car was in a UK repair shop and he needed to pay the bill to get it out.

Turns out the head was still warped and my then-wife didn't get the ***le like I thought she had. The guy was supposed to send a head from the states, and would send the ***le as well. Disappeared never to be seen again.

Lesson learned for me. Get the ***le before handing over the cash.

 

I'm good. I just got a brand spanking new ***le for the '60 (with my name on it)
Right now I just stand in front of the "bullet holes" until I can take them off...

 

**** the 'do not touch' signs. Stupid people don't read signs.

My sign says, "Your kid can sit in my car and honk the horn, you dog can too".
There really is no bigger joy for me than to witness that little kid's grin as his dad says, "go ahead, it's okay, the man said you could sit in it".

In years of showing, no spectator has ever damaged my jalopy. **** the 'do not touch' signs.

Naw, you didnt get screwed, you just are caught up in red tape. You gotta go to DMV,wait in line,play the game, and you'll end up with a ***le.
I've had to do this **** lotsa times,cuz no one else wants to do it. He prolly tried and said to heck with it.
Once you get the ***le straight and get it registered, it will be worth twice that.Mikey

Ok...I'm nosey as hell, like Mrs. Kravitz. I'm glad everything worked out for you....but what happened about to going back to guy you bought it from? What did HE say? Why didn't HE take back the truck?

 

are you sure the guy who sold it was going to transfer it to his name and didn't yet? see if you can contact the original owner and see if they actually sold it, i ran into this once with a car, it had been sold but the buyer had never transferred the ***le to his name, so it showed up as the original seller. he just signed the paperwork over to me and it was done. get a police report to protect your *** and contact the original owner, he may have done the same thing, or will be happy to get his truck back
