ok i have a 55 chevy truck 235 original 3spd ,clutch fork on p*** side.any body got pics of a slave cylinder set up for this?i want to mount a slave to activate the clutch.no room in my T for mechanical linkage.
I think you would have to tap into the side of the bell housing and build a bracket that is made out of angle iron so that you can bolt it to the bell housing and have a hole to bolt the slave to. the bolts are on the inside of the bell not like a SBC which is on the outside. Heres a link to a pic for insperation. http://www.novak-adapt.com/images/pics/clutches/hcr_slides/side_view.jpg
s10 had a very basic cluch linkage that should be easy enough to fab onto the bell and just meld the linkage together
My '61 Chevy pu has a 235 and uses a slave cylinder. I bet the bolt holes are on the block. Check Rock auto for the parts, they had all my stuff. Need a double master, look up the parts for the truck.
I actually talked to someone about a year ago and he put a Mid 90's chevy pickup hydraulic throwout bearing in his bellhousing, I'll try to remember who it was and forward the info to you. It may be worth going to a U-pull-it to look at a setup.
you might check out the bigger trucks and get a bell housing out of them. i had a 62 c60 with hyd clutch on the p*** side. i couldn't even give the bell housing away at the time i took the truck out of sevice. might try toms truck parts in miami OK. he has lots of early 60's stuff. the master cyl for my clutch on that truck was the exact same as the square brake masters. you could buy a rebuilt one at the time for $20. mine didn't have a dual because it had air brakes. so you could save some $$$ on that. i would think if you get a orig one it might be less work and someone would prob give it to you when the put a v8 in their truck. the slave cys were a little pricier but super easy to rebuild, i did the one on that truck. good luck.
On my Chivvy 250. clutch arm is on driver's side. Picture is looking up. Slave is Toyota, I think, I went to parts store and got the guy to bring out a few, picked the one with mount holes oriented like I wanted, will keep the original box so if I ever need to replace it I'll have a reference. I fabricated the mount bracket.
