    More progress from Lowsquire.

    - The Pedals were re-bushed.
    - The Brake pushrod was fabricated and welded in place.
    - The Handbrake cable mounts were machined & welded to the rear Bones
    - The crossmember was clearanced to accept the Brake Pedal throw
    - The Clutch pedal linkages was designed and appropriate pieces machined to fit the existing Bellhousing

Yeah, just one more bit to go...... the Front Spring. This was ordered about 2-3 months ago from a dealer in the US but things haven't worked out with him. I'm now sourcing one locally and will have it to Lowsquire next week. It should be just a Bolt-on item and then the Chassis can touch the Ground for the first time.

I've already organised the Flatbed to take it to the Body Shop to have the Body made to fit the Chassis, so a new chapter will begin in this build.

But now for the Biggest Headache........ What Color will she be???????

I'm chasing a mid 50's theme and she will have Blackwall Tires, so nothing bright & flashy.

  10. Amazing fabrication/engineering work.
    Loving this build.
    You have done very well.
Especially with all the govt crap thrown at you.

I'll take those "unsafe" frame parts that were cut off....seriously

  12. Sometimes local is better, my old front spring broke a few years back (fatigue and a crack) and I had one from Rod-Tech in 7 days! Really good price too.

As for colour search out some 50's paint charts online and go from there.

Congrats on your progress man .... Much respect for Lowsquires work . (There's always a better way ! )

  15. Those button ends make a big difference in the ride and are barely noticeable. Now one seems to notice them on mine.

Touchdown........ The Chassis has finally touched the ground.

The Rodtech Front Spring was installed and it was then able to be placed on the ground....... what a Major Milestone.

The scrappy Wheels & Tires are only there to get it mobile. I have a new set of Firestone Blackwalls 16x750 Rear & 16x525 Front which will be installed once she comes back from Body prep.

It will leave Rancho Deluxe next week and head off to get the Body made to fit the Chassis.

The Trans (Gearbox) is a Toyota W50 (Steel Case) Box. It is a 5 Speed and is a common conversion down here in Oz. You can see the fitting details on Page 3 of this Thread

Also, the technical details can be found at this site. http://www.retrotech.co.nz/Tech/Toyota-boxes.php

    And away she goes...........

The Chassis left Rancho Deluxe today headed for Body Fitment. I've selected Vic O'Neil to make the body and John at Hellbent Engineering to do the steeling out, but more on them in future posts.

At this point I'd like to say a big thankyou to Ben (Lowsquire) for his work. There is still some unfinished business here, but for a good half year or so, we are done.

Aside from Ben's great fabrication skills, I'd like to thank him for making dealing with him so easy. There were a number of issues we faced with this build, but he always had the answer. His advice was especially apreciative. I'd have no hesitation in recommending him for any of your Hot Rodding needs...... and he makes a great coffee also.

Here are some pics of the Chassis departing.

I like this first one..... it could be seen as the Before & After. If it turns out anywhere near as good as Ben's Roadster I'll be very happy

The outside of Rancho Deluxe for those that don't know the place. A nice Art Deco facade.
