My 55 has the manifolds for duals on it. Not sure if it was a stock option or not. Check out ebay, you might be able to find a set or just the passenger side on there. I am not positive, but I don't think you can use the Ram Horns if you find any, I think the steering box is in the way, or something. Mine just has about a 20" Cherry Bomb on each side and I like the sound.

54 55 56 take (Use) the rounded style while the 57 up use the squarer type. The 57 up are alittle longer on the flange because of the steering box. If ya dont find any PM me, I stock em. Cal

My '59 had a y-pipe connecting the two manifolds, but it was just bolted to the manifolds. Took it off, used the same flanges and made duals with cherry bombs straight back, no problemo. Sounds sweet, just the proper noisage!

When I had my 55 ford with the Y-block I used Red's headers, reasonable cost and the wonderful smithys. If ya want to make some noise, make sure the rear tailpipe size smaller than 2inch. you will get the pipes to really rap.
That will bring the Y-block alive.

I come out of 2" Cherry Bombs with reducers to 1 1/2". Then about 3' to turndowns. This is on my 54 F350 with 292 Y Block. Starts off with Reds Headers.

On the 53 Vicky with flathead I go 1 1/2" all the way back, again with Cherry Bombs up close to Reds Headers.

On a 68 Impala with 396 Im using 2 1/2" out of the Cherry Bombs but that sound is pure painful at times. It scares the shit out of ricers and SUV's tho when I drop down a gear on the interstates as I blow by them.

The smaller pipes on the Fords are a lot more mellow.

BTW, dual exhaust were factory optional on Y's right from the beginning in '54.
