What do you think of this, it's a 1916 Studebaker touring. I'm playing with ideas right now, and I figured a little input wouldn't hurt.
Thats pretty neat. Kind of like a mini-tub. The only thing that I would change if it were mine is to give it a little more rake. Raising the back end up a little would look better in my opinion. BUILD IT!
Your shopchop looks like my Touring, stance wise. That car looks too long int he stock form, I like your chopped version, very cool.
Wow - this is too weird...About 8 years ago, I bought a '27 Rickenbacker touring at a swap meet for $15. Only good stuff was from the doors on back - rest was junk. So I made a modified out of it - looked a lot like yours. I used a Briggs body cowl and narrowed & shortened hood, to cover a Ford 2300/5-speed combo. Flipped a Model A frame upsidedown and added a giant 13" kickup in the rear. Sat 4" off the ground all the way around, using '35 Ford wires, and suicided the '40 Ford front suspension way out there...I really liked the look! That's as far as it got, and I traded it off for other stuff when I started my racer. Then I found out Rickenbacker never made a touring - it was really a - - - 1916 Studebaker!!! So yeah, it looked a LOT like yours...A friend of mine now owns the car, and it's getting finished to a much higher level than I ever could've done it. Sorry to get so windy on your thread - that picture just got me all excited...FWIW, mine sat level, and I liked it - it just wasn't a raked kind of car...
Short looks cooler and fits better in the garage. Long can carry more friends or camping gear. Both are actually pretty cool. Here's a rake/stance that I like and may influence mine, that is iff I go with a tub: http://www.greasemonk.com/slamchop I'm still debating between making a Tub and an RPU out of my 4-door sedan. Definitely raise the rear. In addition to better looks, you'll wind up with a little more leg room -- like stadium seating.
Dig it! Looks really cool short. Maybe push the rear wheels back a couple inches? Might look rad with some sort of top on it. It's gotta run an early ohv Stude motor, right? Maybe even a Hemi? Red Ram with a 4 speed. Quick change... 4 aluminum bobmer style seats, detachable windshield, A taillights, commercial fronts that detach (for the Flats runs), tonno cover. Got all that? Lemme know when my car is done.
I have a flatty sitting around, so I will probably use that. I really want to run a Stude V8, but this is what I have around. I think I may build it so I can swap out the engine later. We'll see.
It looks cool as is. Don't change a thing. It swoops up at the rear anyways, so it doesn't need any more rake, in my opinion. Of course you know what they say about opinions.
Four doors have a bad name...build it as a four and show 'em that long cars with lots of doors are just as cool. Looks sweet with the green velour...you gonna leave it? True
Hey John, Get your *** out to the garage and work on that thing!!!! I think it would be cool either way. I think i showed you this before but i would keep it long but shorten the back up. And make the wheel well into the back of the rear door. Im not sure but i think thats how T tourings are. It will shorten it a little but still be 4 doors. Ya know? This picture ****s balls, i had to do it in Paint because my photoshop free trial ran out. haha Nick
