Regardless of whether you chop it, it would do wonders to slant the b-pillar and round the door corners... The hood sides are fantastic.

Chop it! Cleatus nailed it! But would need a different grill maybe a packard or a 37 ford or a lesalle?

That door sure bothers a lot of people, the same thing happened the first time you posted it!:D
It doesn't really need chopped, but if you think it would look better chopped, then cleatus nailed it. I mean, if you're going to chop it to improve the looks, then why not improve the looks of the door at the same time? If you do chop it, and leave the door alone, that's the question everyone who sees it will be asking.
In other words, IMO, if you're not gonna change the door, leave the top alone, that way the factory can be blamed for it.

The chop does look really good, but I don´t think I´d do it in this instance, just because of the rarity of it. I think the door corners would be a lot less visible just for being painted a dark colour. I really think it would look good like this...

Super cool car.... I agree chop or not, the B pillars need to be slanted.

The reason that it bothers a lot of people is because it not only looks wrong, it is a styling mistake when it was new IMO.

Bear in mind that most car makers nearly went belly up in 1933, and the survivors were under severe budgets to stay alive in the continuing depression. That coupe shell seems to be the front part of a sedan, and coupes were not a high volume body style...so they saved money by doing that. JMO

As the car stands in unrestored condition, we all can see that is was built that way.

But, the minute you paint the car, everyone who sees it will assume someone removed the rear quarter windows to make a fake 3 window coupe. I'd bet money that more than 99% of car people at a show will think it was a faked 3W.

IMO the slanted rear post with chop and skirts is "upscale" old style custom looking on that particular car.

it's your car and you should do what you want. I think it looks great as is. Do the suspension stuff first and see if you like it.

It looks great like the red pic. It would look even greater with the doors fixed.

The door top doesn't seem to bother me like it does others, I do kind of like the chop though.
Any damn fool can restore an antique it takes a real man to cut one up!:D

Those straight edge door pillars are killing it for me.
Whatever you do, please slant and round the door pillars.

    A real man can't FIT into a chopped car!:D:D;)

While I don't care for the chop idea, It's hard to argue this one.

Here's what I'm hearing....... a properly done Westerguard-style '36 3w looks killer because .......... the proportions are right effing on!!! I think we all agree to that. The proportions of this particular Nash are...... close but not quite overall pleasing. It's a cool car as is ..... but what do you want? As the T-shirt used to say, "Any one can restore an old car, it takes a real man to cut one up".

To my eye, it needs the doors stretched 3" to 4", top chopped 3" to 4" and the B pillar slanted. I'd also find some way to section some visual weight out of the front end without molesting the beautiful grill.

My opinion...... but then again, you asked.....

It just dawned on me that all these ideas you guys posted could have been heard at every car company's design department back in the 30's. :)

    GREAT ADVISE AND OPINIONS....THANKS GUYS!!!

Here's my opinion and since I own the car I guess it carries a little weight!

I'm going to HOT ROD her, I like the taildragger look but for me at 52 yrs old...I've always wanted a HOT ROD..... I'm leaning toward a mini tub in the rear....slight rake and hopefully thumper motor , I like the photoshop of the CHOP but going to pass on it and use the money on the build....'She is going to keep the square doors and pillars as normal ....that's what makes her different and I know to some of you ,,,makes her ugly but I like her stock look just fine....One thing for sure , I need to make it the way I think I want to see it....So this is my plan hope you guys understand somewhat where I'm going with her.....thanks for all the input and the photoshop pics , they were awesome!:D
