here is an ols pic of my car it's torn down now for a full rebuild and i was wondering what you all thought of chopping it (how much ect)
I was never much on chopped sedans, until Lil Boris chopped a '41 Chevy sedan like that - leaned the A-pillars way back, and whacked it hard! Combined with a good slamming, it turned the old sedan into one badass looking hot rod, and the owner had to turn up the wick under the hood to match the look (sorry I don't have pix)...Now I say, get radical with it, or leave it alone (when it comes to 40s sedans)...FWIW...Bottom line is - what do YOU think?
That is exactly what i was thinking, not going the Kustom route but going radical hot rod, is there anyone who is good with photo shop that could mess with my car? Maybe i'll wait and have a different post just for photoshop ideas.
Just a thought but.... "NOT EVERY CAR HAS TO BE CHOPPED" And this is not directed at anyone cause everyone in there momma wants to CHOp whatever they got......
Your profile says that you're 16: do you have the skills (at 16?) to do it yourself? If daddy is to pay for it, you're on the wrong board. I'm not trying to put you down: you're 16, you've started smart by being here, start small, learn as much as you can, make it a runner, drive it, make small changes, GET A JOB!, learn some more, ask questions, learn some more, borrow some tools, don't piss away money on the current trend: have a vision, write it down... Take shop classes in high school (my biggest failure in life, I went through life as an academic)....but, take the most difficult, exasperating classes available: foreign languages (I had two years of (public school) Latin and two years of Russian). Take the hardest, most boring English classes....C9 was correct...AV8 was more correct...James Joyce may be more important than Vern Tardel, but then again, I may be wrong. Take math classes...as an academic I was the only junior in a class of seniors in "college alebra"...it bored the piss out of me. High school bored the piss out of me.... Challenge your teachers...push 'em...take a typing class. Try for 60 wpm, it'll save you hours a day on the internet. Reiterating...make your car run...drive it...learn, earn...modify while driving. My vision is mine...it will vary It's past my bedtime...guys, encourage this lad... Mike
Mike: Sound advice for a young kid. now all i can say is. . . WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU WHEN I WAS 16???? t
Hot damn fiddyfour reg dec 2004 and 304 posts? You reply to everything bro? I see an old school hamber in the makin... keep them posts up
Eh... it'll taper off soon enough. i do love to shoot the chit, but this is a bit much even for my big ass i been off work since the 7th of jan when i got hurt at work and hadda have surgery last month because of it. not much else to do cept collect parts, stare at my car sittin out there in the cold, and sit here, read and talk T
Didn't he just ask for opinions on chopping ? Sounds like he already has a vision, and maybe he even has a job. L
For a project like this consider the whole picture. Take in account your fabrication abilities, the glass work, interior work. If you feel that you are ready to under go a task like this, then go for it. It won't be easy, so don't try to rush! Check and double check everything until you feel that it is lined up correctly. It has to be your call, either way you can have a nice ride when your done.
I think he and that snorton dude are racing trying to catch Rocky...kinda reminds you of 1-load's earlier days, doesn't it?? Brian
I have driven the car I am posting as an attachment. It is owned by Randy Jones of Carthage, Mo. Randy engineered and built this chevy. It is without a doubt the best driving and handling car I have driven. The photo is courteous of Carnut.com where you can find many photos fo 40 something cars, including chopped tudor sedans. Just search Index of pics If I should ever build one, I would attempt to duplicate Randy's car. My advise is to map out your plan for your project, decide on a build plan, figure your budget(double it),then build your dream. Build your car for you with your ideas. Period!
Comon Brian, Fiddy Four is a good guy, he is helping us with Levis HAMB relay. As for begborrow...............I wouldnt try to chop it right now, get it running, have fun and attack the chop a few years down the road if you still have and love the car.
i think it looks good now, just slam it, but if your hell bent on chopping it, try and find a chop going down somewhere u can get in on, as a helper/gopher or whatever. im helping a friend chop his 50 Ford bussns coupe. im learning alot. more than any books or pics. it will make your chop that much easier.
Well, you taught me something here. I didn't bother to check your profile, so had no clue of your age...I'll be more careful in the future before I start yapping... These guys have given some excellent advice, in my opinion. If you can't shake the urge to chop something, maybe you could get your hands on some junk car and chop that first, to get a feel for what's involved - and it'll probably be just as much fun, too! Maybe more fun than chopping your own car, since it won't be nearly so nerve wracking! If you screw up some throwaway car, no big deal...I've made plenty of screwups on REAL cars, and although I was eventually able to save 'em, the emotional trauma was so bad, it almost wasn't worth learning how to fix the screwup (but I tend to be hard on myself sometimes)...Once upon a time, I would've advised you to just learn on the sedan, but nowdays, with old tin getting harder to find, I don't think so... Good luck. As long as you have the ability to be honest with yourself, you can't lose.....
thatis a good idea jangleguy but it is also very expensive to find a junk body to chop! so i just don't know what i'm gunna do, but i do know lots of people that are very good at chopping cars who would definetly help me out, they have done may complicated chops here is one: it is a bad picture and you can't really see the chop but they took 3"/ 4" out of the front and left the back the same height.
