    Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone out there knew where i could source a big old rubber tranmission mount for a 50 merc coupe without OD ?
none of the usual suspects seem to have them.
Mine looks a bit like a napalmed marshmallow and while the flathead is out it would be great to try for a new one before i go for registration.

I have Bill Papke doing the good work and having a look around for me, but it would be great if anyone knew where i could source one that could get sent downunder.

If anyone has any ideas, like maybe something that has worked for you or is happy to give up a source it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

I put a '50 Merc non OD trans in a '47 Ford a couple of years ago and used, as I recall, a mid 60's GM mount/insulator. There is really nothing special about an effective mount. Just match the trans case mount hole spacing with a GM/Ford/Mopar mount and make any minor mods needed to the crossmember to accomodate the bolt spacing and/or height there.

If you have the round biscuit type like my early 51 Merc, you can get them at C&G Early Ford Parts P/N 8M-6038-B for the large upper biscuit and B9TT-6039-A for the smaller lower biscuit. If you have the rectangular type you will have to find someone who rebuilds them (recasts the rubber on the plate). FoMoCo made a conversion kit to replace the rectangular ones with the round biscuit type which was just a later round biscuit type mount with the biscuits & bolts included.

I have this one (used) if you need the whole thing.

Thanks heaps for the info Gents.
Hnstray , i have had a look at the availability of off the shelf gear and have had little luck with getting anything the right height and wide enough to get to the width of the fixings on the trans. I may fluke it, but it would seem unlikely with what i have seen so far. ( i live on the edge of the earth)
But that looks pretty sensible 19 Fordy! straight outta the bible ! They look like the stock front mounts as you say rotorwrench.
I could easily get a hold of a couple more of those !
This could be the easiest fix for me at this stage of the game. and the joy of no mods!
Got about a month before the flathead comes back.
    19Fordy, check your PM.
this site site is awesome for a guy in my situation.
Thanks heaps for taking the time.
I will get back to Bill and maybe get him to take his foot off the pedal a bit.
    Cheers
