    Hey Guys,
I've been struggling trying to get my 61 f100 on the road. Having all sorts of fuel/carb issues. First I drained the original tank and cleaned it out trying to get the old rusty sediment and bad gas out. At the same time I also cleaned the carb (standard Holley 1 barrel). It was running good at idle, but is was giving me problems on the road, mainly stalling out when coming down off of RPMs for example at a stopsign. So, I thought that I was still having fuel trash issues because the filter was still getting really nasty. So, last night as a temporary fix I put a boat tank in my bed and ran a line for that. The gas is now looking great and it is running good, but I am still having the same issue of it stalling out when coming down from idle. I'm at a loss. I'm hoping I'm not going to have to completely rebuild the carb, but that is what I am leaning towards next. Hoping that someone else may have some ideas as to any other problems. Thanks for your help!

If the only carburetor you have is the one on the motor, you need a spare anyhow. Get another one, see how it works. If the problem is the same, it probably isn't the carb. If it fixes the problem, get a kit and fix the old one, that way you have a spare.

i have a six in my 66 ford f 100,i had big troubles with the carb,,i could not find any parts for it,i went to a larger newer holley 1 barrel i bought on e bay for 25.00,you must use a spacer under the carb to keep it from vapor locking,i cut the base off the old carb, make sure your lines are not kinked or your rubber line not old, fuel filter after the pump, check the pump, they are cheap and keep in mind the canister on top of the pump is a filter (i took mine out for a clear one in line)check the pic up in the tank also, make sure no one messed with it,,my other option was getting a adapter to run the fomoco 2 barrel,or for me i am going to switch later on to a offy 4 barrel intake and a small holley carb,,,,

how about your distributor vac***? Timing? And a carb kit for one of those is pretty cheap.

Often times , you can still have a problem as sometimes , trash can and will damage a needle and seat. being as the little hollyey isn't a major deal to overhaul, spend a afternoon and do a quickie re-build . Oh, Ive owned several of these engines over the years too...... scrubba
