Kidney stones are a *****..also have galbladder stones..****s. cant say what its like for you, at least in time i have p***ed the kidney stones.. Thoughts go out for you, to have a fast recovery and a complete recovery too
My prayers are with you Vic, N.Y. Presb., is one of thee best Hospitals in the world, I'm talking from experience.
Good luck with it Vic...I had two kidney stones within a month or so, and its by far the worst pain I have ever felt. Well, except for the failed surgery to remove them! Felt like I was ******* lighting for 2 weeks after that. My cousin has had severe kidney issues, and is going on 1 now.
Hey Vic...Google "kidney removal recovery time"...lots of good info. Good luck to you, sir...wish you the best.
Vic,a younger good friend of mine had a bad kidney removed when he was 4 years old. He's 35 now and is very active, some extreme sports, rides a motorcycle and recently I got him into building old cars. He's got kids,a wife and makes a good living ,he has no limitations.I bet you won't either.
Sorry to hear this, Vic. Prayers are with you. I'm sure both hospitals are fine. My mother was treated for cancer at Sloan Kettering 10 years ago. They got every molecule of it and she's been fine ever since. Can't say enough good things about the care she got there, top notch. Anyway, all the best to you man.
Vic I have to say I know what stones are like first hand.....and I deal with patients fresh post-op from a nephrectomy. I'm a Surgical RN. #1 most important thing I can tell you is NOT to "cowboy up". Take the pain meds when you need them and ASK for them. DO NOT wait to be asked if you need some. It is a proven fact that if you control pain early it takes less meds and promotes faster recovery. It is easier to CONTROL pain that gets to a 5/10 scale than it is to CHASE a 10/10 pain. If they give you a choice for a spinal....by all means I'd get it done....(Without knowing your history it may not be an option).I've had 3 in the past 2 years, One for each hip (they were just recalled) and one for a nasty HUGE stone that they needed to blast with the old laser 2 weeks ago. Hang in there, positive thoughts make a difference.
I had major surgery last October and it has been some time to recover. I needed rehab and follow a proper diet to get back to my previous condition a 6 month ordeal. So follow post op requirements and you should be fine. Oh, I bought another project to motivate me to get out to my shop and work on it. Working on our cars is a type of therapy anyway. Good luck on the surgery.
I lost my left K to a Non-milignat tumor in 99. The did it the old way. scar from the b\****on around to the back. Now they do it much different. Curly is right, positive thoughts, take the pain meds when you need them. Walk as much as posible..(keeps the bowels from backin up.)
My father and my father's mother both had to have a kidney removed cause of cancer. When dad had his done he was in bed for about a week and then was doing fine, he couldn't play golf for 6 weeks, I think that was the hardest part for him. Good luck with the operation. Hope you get to feeling like your old self in no time.
sorry to hear about this, oil filter gone bad huh? at least people come with two!! ask the doc if it said Fram on it after it's been taken out. I'll post a link to this thread in the Crossmembers chapel so everyone remembers to say some prayers for you.
P***ed a stone in '92. A lady friend told me that I now knew what it feels like to have a baby. I told her that when she has a baby wearing a spiked collar, she'll know what it feels like to p*** a stone. Hang in there.
I know the kidney stone pain, so I can somewhat relate. Hang in there, I know it can hurt. On the other side, my brother in-law had one kidney removed on account of a growth several years ago at a VA hospital and has been doing great. My wife is a kidney transplant patient and has been doing fine for 8 years. The doctors treat these like we treat oil and filter changes. They have done so many it is routine. Best of health wherever you go. Let us know how it turns out.
Damn, Sorry to hear that Vic. I'll certainly keep you in thoughts and prayers. Hope you have a great outcome. Best to you buddy! Mike
Hang in there Vic. My wife just went through 9 months of cancer treatments including surgery and some days just plain ****ed. Pain killers will be your friend and you might need some anti anxiety meds to help chill you out. It will be painful. My wife has worked in the Operating Room for over 30 years and she will tell you it will be very painful. You will be uncomfortable, irretable, cranky and just not yourself. Surround yourself with the people who Love and support you. Good Kahrma goes a long way!!! Stay strong, Jim
Vic...I know the pain first hand. I have had several surgeries for that (along with other stuff). That list is too long. Back to the down time. I was out for about 5 weeks. That was in 02. I will request prayer for you at church. Just remember, "if He brings you to it...He will bring you through it". Take care. Eddy
