This car may not be traditional, but it's pre '64 which I believe :cool:is the cut off date here. The technical side of the build is impressive and shows initiative with an unusual vehicle, no doubt we can all learn something from this build. I like many other users look at and post at other forums. As another post previously mentioned the HAMB is the forum with the best variety of threads and adventurous build ups.
Congrats your doing a great job.

I love the (stock?) linkage on the chokes of the SU carbs. That must work much better than the all-cable setups I am used to working with/swearing at.

When you are done with the subtle mods you've planned, you'll probably have a sedan that performs better than what a "works" car could have offered.

Are you planning any upgrades to the ignition for the Judson supercharger install?

    Hahaha... thank you James!

You've done a great job on this thing.... it's not too late for that 289, you know? :D The Judson will do though.

  5. No glasspacks?

Not something I would twice at unrestored, but I'm diggin' the craftsmanship and finish.
    Great job with the T5!

Holy moly, this is some seriously impressively work. Makes me embarrassed for myself. I can barely change spark plugs without it turning into a 3 week long disaster.

Go man,go. Enjoyed the pics and great info.

  11. Getting down to the nitty-gritty. The brakes are plumbed and the tie-bars buttoned up. I fabbed some sill caps and put them in with panel adhesive. The captured nut is for the splash apron. I had the front shroud and radiator support off, so that got painted along with the inner fenders. The radiator was good so it just got painted. Also here is a photo of the battery since a few people asked.

  12. The engine bay fully completed. Time to move onto some of the minor components left before it can be taken for th e maiden voyage. The rear lamp assembly got a rebuild.

I decided to not run the rear bumper, it was a big chunky piece that I think ruined the lines of the car. I have bodywork to do in the back here from a previous accident, so I'll weld up the mounting holes at that point.

  13. Here is the current wheel/tire combo, with some overall shots of the car. They are 165/15 radials with PortaWalls from Lucas Tire. The wheels are stock MG, but I painted the perimeter in MG engine red. The trim rings are the original items as well.

  14. The first test ride! My wife stopped by for the momentous occasion. The gearbox ratios are very well matched to the engine RPM. I hope the suspension settles a bit more, but right now I'm happy with the stance.

  16. We bolted the front fenders on and continued putting test miles on it before the attention can turn to the interior.

Mad skills man, pretty cool project too

  22. You guys look happy and I guess thats all that matters. Your dad has a great smile on his face. You must have got him that cheeseburger. After looking at the rest of thread I have to say that that car has some potenial. I was not trying to start any drama, it's just if I pick up a copy of the Rodder's Journal I don't expect to see someones restored and mildly modified Yamaha YZ250 on the pages. Kinda the same way here to me. Looks like a great stepping stone to a traditional style hotrod or custom build in the future. I apologize if I offended you. I still feel the same way about subject matter here. You definetly have some skills and I think you should continue to show them. Now I am going out to the garage and get some more work done on my 34. Pip Pip Cheerio

wow you have been busy with that.

    I remember the intro post.

    Great work

  28. This is one of the better build/informative threads I've seen on the HAMB, traditional or not.
They way 251 presented it was pretty cool. Lots of pics in a short time and good continuity.
I'm glad the mods let the thread run its course and a critic or two softened their line some. I think we all got a lot from it.
