Got a small block in a model A, I have a Petronix flame thrower that is too big (tall) to fit. It hits the cowl. It seems if the Mallory dists are much smaller, which one is the one to run? Va***n advance? Thanks, Nick
Mallory YCs are bigger but have a low two piece cap, the YLs are smaller diameter ( smallest of the Mallory units). I have both ready to build anyway you want them. Another option is the mallory marine unit that uses a crab ( early ford distributor cap for a cool look and low profile).........PM for more info , could work a trade etc for the pertronix.........???
Stock with Pertronics is my vote. Why fix what is not broken? After market on the street is an expensive solution to a non existant problem.
Although we do them all , i couldnt agree more !!! The stock chevrolet is one of the better units on the planet !! I especially love the old cast iron ones , 50s look with todays performance.
This is an Lt1 that I've put a carb on, so I have no stock distributor, and a stock SBC is most likely still to big. Its gonna have to be one the mallory units, I just wanted info on which one was the "one" to get. BTW, do the have a black cap for the mallory distributors?
