I have a 1930 Ford Roadster with a 2" chopped windshield that has the windshield posts straight up and I would like to slant them back a little , does anyone make stantions that slant the posts back or has anyone done this type of thing and can you you give me any help ?

Are your windshield posts & stanchions 1 piece, or 2 separate pieces? You can get 30-31 roadster windshield lower stanchions that have a stud on it that the windshield posts mount to. You can adjust these at whatever angle you like.

The only thing you will have to do if you want to tilt it back further is notch the lower stanchion a little so the the stop on the post can go further in. Hard to explain kind of, but you'll see what I mean when you have the parts.

I don't have any good close up pics of this, but here's one that will give you an idea. I am not sure if this is what you have though, maybe post some pics of your if possible.

    Hope this helps a little,

    Dan

Thanks , I do have the 2 piece Stantions & Posts , however the posts have stops on the bottom that will not let the posts go past straight up & down , do you know the name of the company you got the parts from in your picture ?

you probably have upper stanchions for a 32, the stops are in a different spot than the 30-31's so they stay more vertical. you can flip them from side to side and be able to lean the windshield back as far as you want, just make sure the wingnuts are tight since the stops will no longer serve their function.

That's perfect, you have what you need. I have the same thing. What you have to do is notch the lower stanchion to let the stops go further in. I did mine with a dremel.

I don't have any great detailed pictures of the notch I cut, but this should get you started. Look at the cut out in the back of my lower stanchion. If you need detailed pics let me know. The stanchions are off of the car now so I could take some better pics.

just switch the upper stantions. put the left on the right side, and vice versa. the stop will be in front and you can tilt it back as far as you want. just tighten the shit out of the nut though!!!

Here you go.Here's a few pics that should help:

Driver's side post looks like this, notice stop on bottom of cup:

Here is a close up of lower stanchion with notch cut into it to allow the stop to go into the stanchion. This is with the stop just going into the stanchion:

Now here is a pic with the post tilted back, & the stop is now inside the stanchion:

Hope this helps a little. The amount of angle you can tilt it will depend on how much you notch the lower stanchion. The nice this about doing it this way is that the stop still works, & will keep the windshield from flopping into your face going down the road:D

If you use 32 upper stanchions that are stainless you can grind off the stop, weld with stainless wire ,grind and smooth then move the stop by building up with weld in area that gives you the right slant then shape and polish.
Now you don't have to worry about your windshield hitting you in the face when you meet tha 18 wheeler on the road.

I swapped sides, got the angle i wanted, then drilled and tapped through to the lower stanchion and used a flat bottom set screw to keep em in place.
