I have a 90' Chevy 700R4 in my 34' Ford and want to replace a 89' Chevy ZZ1 with a 96' Chevy LT1. Are they compatible? If so, are there any problems with trans to motor bolt pattern, ring gear, starter etc? I appreciate any advice. It could save me a lot of grief.

  2. interchangeable across the board. Flywheels, starters, etc. Be safe.

The only problem I see is the TV cable.

With a carburetor equipped engine ... you can buy the correct ratio/pull system for the 700R4. I think the engine LT1 you are wanting to go to is injected. How are you going to work that ??

Maybe theres a way ... and I just do not know it ...
Highly possible ... all my engines have carburetors :D

Not a problem, Bow tie overdrives sells a kit for that conversion. The trick is the line pressure in the TV system.

The first year for LT1 was 1993. The NON-electric 4l60 was used, same as 700r4 just a different name. In 1994 they started using the 4L60E. Go find parts from a 1993 LT1 and your 700r4 should be fine. The only thing that should really be different is the aforementioned TV cable hookup, blocks were basically the same along with flexplates starters etc. You don't need to spend 150 bucks with Bow Tie for the cable or any of the others. A 700r4 can be setup to run properly much cheaper. How do I know this? By blowin em up every way possible and then finding out how not to!

The LT1 /700R4 (4L60) was actually used in the '92 Corvette also.
