Well i had a weak moment the other day and bought this 50 Chevy 3100 3 window.I stopped by a freinds house that has built proly 50 of these 47-54 trucks over the past 15 years that i have known him and he was kinda getting burned out with this one.I wasnt real interested in it at first till i looked and saw it was an old military truck .When i saw that i had to have it.Im planning on making a decent driver for around town .Its a 50 3100 series that he already clipped with a mid 80's mid size GM clip.It has a new rebuilt 350 4 bolt with a 2 barrell (lol) with a small Comp cam and a rebuilt long tail T-350 ,plus a disc brake posi rearend from a Trans -Am ( i think).I rebuilt the carb and adjusted it when i got it home and it runs pretty well now,so i may just leave it on there. He already sand blasted the cab and doors and installed a new widshield and gasket .Notice the neat old military stencils on the hood latch panel between the radiator and grill. It needs some work on the bed mainly ,but i have better fenders ,along with another nice panel for under the tailgate to fix the mangled one.Im thinking of painting it OD green with a white star on each door ,and Army canvas on the seat and for a bed cover. It was a deal so i bought it even though my wife gave me Hell over it :)...

  2. Sounds like a good start.. My dad and I restored our towns first fire truck, a 52 Chevy. Kinda had a soft spot for 'em since then.

In the past i have always kept old car purchases from her and just came home with them and faced the music.I figured that way i only got chewed out once .I told her a few days before i went and got this one (like a dummy )and then ended up getting chewed out twice.Once when i told her ,and then again when i went against her wishes and bought it anyway :(.Shes getting over it though as always.I actually got to sleep in bed last night instead of on the sofa :D...

Im making sum progress on this ****er and im hoping to be shooting on sum color in a few weeks .I got the bed fixed ,floor welded in and sealed ,plus made and welded in patches for the door handles ,mirror holes ,gas filler door ,as well as shaved the hood sides and ornament on the front .Not sure on the "OD" green or not yet .Although the front fenders look fairly straight there not.Looks like a 3 year old did the body work on them.I will be straighting them soon .Here are sum pics of the progress so far.Im only able to work on it a few hours in the mornings before i go to work each day ,but its getting there ...

Well i went a completely different direction with this truck and decided against the Military theme .Its gunna be my daily ,so i made it how i want it (piss on what everyone else thinks i should do its my truck ,my labor ,and my hard earned $$ :D).I shaved the handles ,hood ,mirror ,etc. ,and frenched the headlights , made a custom flush tailgate area roll pan ,bed floor, and tailights .I straightened the beat to Hell panels out welded up the torn fenders and bed (which should been thrown away ) made and welded in patches for the rusted **** and sprayed it yesterday with sum Blitz black.I have a new set of Bias WWW tires to mount and im gunna spray sum gold and red or silver and red flames when the Blitz cures .I painted the dash and interior gloss black .I still have to install sum lowering blocks for the rear and cut a coil from the front springs to get it setting like i want.Im ready to start driving it every day .Well heres what i've ben doing in my spare time for the last 6 months.Still got a little ways to go on it yet ,but i will get there ...

Its funny how people think its got a racey Big Block in it until i lift the hood and show them :D.Its just a 4 bolt 350 from a van with 305 4 barrel heads and a little comp hydraulic cam with a 2 barrel. Its got Ram Horn manifolds on it with loooong gl*** packs that turned down behind the cab .I cut the dust blowing turndowns off and welded sum megaphones i had laying around to the back of the gl***packs that stop a few inches from the rearend .I didnt really want them sticking out from undernieth the roll pan (cuz they look kinda Redneck) ,so i hid them but still got the deep tone .My wife will ride in it but always complains the whole time cuz we have two air conditioned vehicles sitting in the driveway and i choose to drive this in the Texas heat and fry like an egg .She will like it more in the Fall :)...
