I was in this club in the East Detroit area back in the late 50's. Are there any former members on the HAMB?

Dont know about that but here is my old Michigan Kustom. Did you guys have plaques cast? I will get with one of my buds that lived through that era ( and also had a hand in working on my car bitd ) Lets here some stories of the club and any of the cars the memebers drove. Mine was from Downriver , the hot bed of Kustoms. **** Dean had a shop there as well as Bill Hines.

  3. I've seen a lot of Mercs latley at shows here in Clio & Flushing that have had Kustoms of Michigan plaques hanging from their cars and saw a few guys walking around with jackets that said it as well

I will post a picture of the plaque as soon as I can get one. Were the jackets powder blue with a flowing script Kustoms of Michigan on the back??

  5. I want to say they were red but I don't really remember..I do remember this dark green Merc had the plaque on the back of his car though I think that was the only one I got a picture of that had it unforentally

I was in the Army 58/60 Sta at Fort Benning with a guy from Detroit Most I remember about him he had a real nice 46/48 Ford convert, maroon with a built flathead. Gave a lot of SBC and my buddy's 56 Ford some embarr***ing moments. Wish I could remember his name.
I'm from Kalamazoo area, we started a club called the Road Angles, I still have the plaque. Last I looked there's a pix of it on a site on the web.

A couple members had serious Kustoms. Bob Lewis had a 1952 - 54 Lincoln Hardtop with frenched headlights, tailights, lowered and painted red and at times grey primer with white primer flames. Frank Miller did the work on Lewis's car as well as a 1953 Chev 2dr, which was chopped, Studie pans front and rear like the Kopper Kart with '52 Lincoln tailight lens set in horizontal. Somewhere I have a couple pix of these cars that I will post when found. Most of the rest of us had mild customs by comparison. We met at different members houses on the east side of Detroit. I am still looking for my plaque and will post a pix when I find it.
