  2. I took the sun visors apart, trying to come up with something different. They were just fiberboard panels covered in cloth. I cut some green plexiglass to the shape of the originals and sandwiched them in the brackets.

  3. I don't have a photo of the shift lever, but here are the dimensions. We turned down a section of 300 series stainless to emulate the original Magnette lever, but much beefier to fit an appropriate knob :)

  4. And here is the interior fully assembled. Forgive the photo quality - I've been too busy driving the car I never took some of my own, so these are from a show I went to.The original front seats were trashed, so for now I'm running the front seats from an MG1100. The pattern matches the rear (which is completely original) but they are vinyl.

    Yeah...usually nothing....not even carrying
current....but not always. And when that
euphemistic 'brown' , 'blue', 'white', ''purple
or whatever colour wire in a Lucas system
does do something, it will usually get hot,
smoke and burn up! But not to worry though!
It's all part of a brilliant design! Lucas
engineers were smart enough to foresee any
and all potential problems and thus, most
    Lucas-made electrical components are very
cleverly designed to protect any fuses and
circuit breakers in the system by burning up
    or out, first!! :eek::eek::D

    Lucas has NOTHING on Delco-Remy!

The Delco starters and alternators are disposable units, the massive sales volume is what keeps them cheap.
Stores do not even ask for an exchange unit anymore.

I have probably owned at least four times as many Lucas parts as Delco, and still had to replace far more Delco parts.

How many Delco parts that have sat around as long as the maligned Lucas parts are still working?

Have you considered more detailed photos on how you did the carpets? i'm very interested, on my project i would have to cut the daylights out of a factory carpet. also have you seen a supplier for the short velocity stacks? I have a set of 38 MM Hitachi su type just like what would come on an early Z, I would like to find some shortie stacks to fit in my air cleaners

I agree....it's absolutely crying out for a SBF
or even a little 215 Buick/Rover! If ya' just
have to keep it a 4-banger, how about at least
going to a 2.3 Pinto 4 from the T-Bird Turbo
coupe that you snagged the tranny from?? A few
years ago I helped a buddy in Texas engineer
and build a 2.3 Ford turbo motor with a
    homebrew mega-squirt EFI injection for
his OT, mid-'70's Ford sub-compact car
that I know better than to mention by
name here.:D He ended up with some bucks
in the engine for good parts (Esslinger head,
Crower rods, JE pistons, hybrid T3/T4 turbo,
60 lb/hr injectors etc., but it wasn't that
radical and was still very street drivable.
With only a mild tune and the wastegate
set at a relatively low (for what the internals
were actually built to handle) 20 lbs. boost,
it dyno'd at a bit over 420 hp at 5000 rpm.
How cool would that be in an otherwise
'stock, sedate and elegant looking' - and
    also, still banger-powered MG??!:D

I think he's planning a period supercharger setup, I have a feeling there will be more vintage performance parts to come, this will more like a four banger with early speed stuff

  14. :eek:Thanks 251 Garage, your restoration skills are inspiring, but your detailed photography and ability to communicate the tech, is also outstanding. Maybe for a future build, get out the big shoe horn and build something like this one.;) It's a 478 cubic inch HEMI, with stage-V heads.

Thanks Metalshapes, for letting it roll.

  15. Try working on Citroen electrics - ALL the wires are pale green and the colour coding is a small plastic collar at each termination. Of course, with older cars all of these coloured collars have faded to an even shade of hearing aid beige.

Brilliant work on the MG btw - looking forward to seeing it with a supercharger.

    I agree, what agreat build!
JT are you talking about the yellow Rolls?

  18. Regarding the carpet, I had the original ratty originals to use for patterns. I just allowed extra material to account for the slightly higher modded tunnel. I don't have any other detail shots but I can take some if you're interested!

I got pics but I can't transfer 'em, I'll figure it out.

This is a sweet build, but I prefer 'em a bit more hacked up and transformed.

There´s "two doored" one going together in the UK. A bit pro street for this site, but it goes to show what can be done.

did you glue it down, sew it together? etc. maby you could start a thread in technical on this subject, not everyone likes bare floor pans, The job you did has a nice finished look. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in a tech thread, it pretty much applies to any car.

there's your horsepower in one!! 50's car, tons of horsepower, I say it fits in pretty good. There are a lot of early pro street cars on here. I don't think anyone would complain if it showed up at the HAMB drags, it certainly meets the year cutoff. not something you see every day, that's for sure.

Oh, that woodwork is beautiful. And those Brits are crazy. No way you could make money selling a car that labor intensive. It'd be like driving around in BuckingHAMB Palace!
