Since I built my low dollar sand blast cabinet I decided I would try to do some powder coating.I headed up to the junk yard my father in law works at and scored 3 intakes for free. No wonder he gave them to me Blasted Coated Not a fan of chrome intakes but some cant resist anything shiney!
It went pretty good not as bad as i thought it would be. Just make sure when you hook up your stove in the garage you let your dog or cat wander around it first. Im 6'7" 310lb and screamed like a school girl when a mouse darted out during the pre heating!!!
LMAO, Years ago when I lived in Long Beach, CA., I did the same thing except in my case it was a RAT........
thanks for the reminder, I will let my dog hang in the shop for a while before I fire up the wood stove for the first time this fall . . .
Powdercoating is awesome. Before I got my Eastwood kit, I always thought it was some advanced thing you had to get done at a pro shop. Not so. A gun and an electric oven put you in business.
my ole lady's cat takes care of the heater for me. And if i go in & it dropped dead , well, i guess there was a leak too..... No mice or rats .
I found out the celing in the garage needs to be a little higher!!! I figured if i coat stuff for my friends it will pay for me getting it for my stuff!
I like this a lot better than the chrome for an intake. It works well for cast iron manifolds too on engines that don't have a lot of intake options. Fords look funny to me with a painted cast iron thermostat housing on an aluminum intake. Powder coating allows you to match the finish.
