Have you ever driven a Kustom to a reliability run and try to keep up with a bunch of
outlaw hot rods? Guess who is in the back of the pack? Last weekend was one of my
highlights of the year. Ian Berkly flew in to work with Jeff Meyers last week and to
unwind, Jeff wanted to show Ian the country side. Jeff invited us to go along with them for
a drive through the Flint hills of Kansas. If you all get the chance you need to check it
    out, absolutely beautiful.

When Ian told Jeff that he wasn’t going to grab the Chicken stick in Jeff's Sedan, I knew
then it was going to be a fun day. The Merc did good on most of the corners but not good
enough for Hot Rodders. We invaded three or four small towns in Kansas and every where
we were stopped people were asking where is the car show? We would say right here,,,

Thanks Jeff for the invite and Ian, Dude I’m a big fan, Right?

Most important Hot Rod on the trip, it carried the ice chest and gasoline.

All reliability runs you have some technical difficulties….

Our first stop. Was soo kool……

Here are my few road shots. It was a very spiritual day….

I should have taken more pictures but usually I wasn’t in the same county as the rest of them. LOL!!

I bet the town of Latham, Ks will never be the same. I wish I took pictures when Jeff and
Ian walked into that restaurant. You know that they are still talking about it.. Hopefully
Ian will post some of his pics.

Thanks again guys for letting a kustom tag along……

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Most of the towns that we drove through were the population of around 200 or less.
Sad, most of them are future ghost towns. One of the towns was Beaumont,Ks has
a kool motel that airplanes fly in to eat. I just put the camera up and a plane was
taxi'n down the street, he was stopped at the stop sign waiting to park at the hotel.

I was wondering if he ran the stop sign would it be a traffic violation or an airline issue....

    Happy Trails,

Looks like a fun day. Need more customs though. Make it an annual thing, I'll furnish another custom.

Ain't this what hot rodding is all about?

I know I'll always enjoy the open road the most.

Jalopyrama in MD. is this weekend. A cool part of it is the drive there and back. Like your adventure, will hit the small towns in between.

Major thanks for posting the pics!

Everyone but Ian was impressed how kool it sounded. Ian could hear anything because
his ears were still ringing from Jeff's Sedan.

Amen brother! Nothing beats the open road, Saturday was a spiritual experience to see
those guys ahead of me making the turns and Rapp'n them up... Even though the roads
were not Kustom friendly I still had a blast.

Looking forward to hearing about your drive to the Jalopyrama, post some pics when you
    get back.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Hey Mick, what a blast! You're good people brother , so is the rest of the crew! The run was amazing , and yes I did grab the chicken stick!
It was awesome to meet you and chat! Your mercury is more than beautiful, another proof that sometimes pictures don't do some cars justice!
I am gonna make the trip every year! I am at the airport in Wichita waiting for my flight home now! Thanx for the PM brother! Be safe!

See you soon and Ill add some of my pics when I get home!

Today Ian is flying back to California, hopefully he will post his pics this evening. I bet
he took 100 or more pics.

It was Jeff Meyers idea and he is as hardore as it gets. His son Lucas is almost as tough
he rode in the back seat all the way with no Chicken stick to grab.

Your braver then I am.... I was wanting to take pictures when you guys were making
the turns but it was to sharp of turns to steady the camera. I was laughing watching
ya guys. I had the best seat in the house..

The highlight was I meet another friend and that is priceless. I feel like we got to know
each other and because of the HAMB we can still stay in contact. I love meeting Young
guys that are into Kustoms. Kustoms are alive and well. Thanks for the kind words about
the Merc. I feel like we are going in the right direction. It just takes time. You have a
God giving talent and I'm glad that you are using it, looking forward to watching your future builds...

I was at Dustins yesterday and I had the guys rolling telling them about our adventure.
They were all sick about not being there. One of these days, Renee and I are going to
have to head west to visit ya guys.... Looking forward to many more years.

    Happy Trails, Mick
