time for another update.... we welded up the seam between the 1/4 panel and rocker. also the 2 seams by the tail light. knocked out a big dent on the 1/4 right above the rocker. the driver side 1/4 and p***enger door so far have been the worst.

time to move on to the p***enger side.

well we started on the 1/4 then found out it had some rust issues. so we decided to jump on to the dash and cowl first. since that won't take long to do.

Wow man, good job! Sounds like you did a great job raising her. She's half my age, but probly twice my maturity! :)

I worked on old boats and cars with my dad since I can remember, wouldn't trade the memories for the world, and every time I work on something I reference something he taught me, so, good on ya for doing the same with your kid.

Fantastic! It's great to see a Dad and Daughter doing this together. My little girl is 4, will be 5 in January. We just restored a little bicycle for her together and she loved doing it. I hope it is a sign of things to come :)

Nice to see your Daughter getting right in there. When she's driving I bet she'll glance down at that dash and say to herself "I did that.."

It's cool to see a girl appreciate the effort that goes into making a nice ride, let alone providing much of the elbow work! You've raised a good one there. It doesn't hurt that you're doing it on a Falcon as well. :)

I got an old Maverick out of a backyard for my daughter for her first ride. She (and her cl***mates) gave it nicknames and it still gets comments from her to this day. I doubt if I could have gotten her to help me if I'd wanted to paint it for her...

Thats really rad! My daughter(7) keeps telling me we need to start on a project for her, so when she turns 16 she can have a sweet ride to drive to school. She wants a kustom of course!

funny you mention that. cause when we're out driving our daily. she likes putting her feet up on the dash and i keep telling her to take them down. after we primered the dash i asked her if i could put my feet up on the dash when it's painted. :p she gave a sad face. hahaha

it was time to handle the lil bit of rust the factory caused. i say factory cause there was so much sealer/tar in the trunk area. it covered the drain hole and held the moisture. the PO handled some rust issues. it wasn't great but it got the job done.

i gave my kid a crash course on welding 2 yrs ago. she was in Production & Design in her Orange County Performing Arts H.S. she wanted to advance in the cl*** so she had me teach her for a project she had to do. i asked her if she still remembered how. gave her another quick update and she was off. (tig welding would take to long for her) no pics i was to busy making sure nothing caught fire. a lot of old sealer still in the trunk. since it's not no Riddler award car it just had to be solid and hold. haha

it's hard to tell by the pic but there was shape to it. we had to stretch, shrink a bit and trim it up.

Falcons are awesome projects. Even more awesome is the time you're spending with your daughter. I am doing the same with my son. I'm sure the payoff with be a great kid, with fond memories and great skills! Wish more Dads would raise their daughters this way! Great job!

Great job lowsprings! Being a dad especially. What a cool project and story.

    Flashback.....
It was 1990. My daughter was turning 16 and loved old cars. I found a nice old southern 1968 Mustang that needed some work to get it roadworthy for 2700.
This has a 6 cylinder! Perfect for a new driver. She and I worked together getting it roadworthy. I taught her to change oil and to do its yearly tuneup. She learned alot about cars those years.
Here it is 20 years later. She is 36 and still drives and takes care of this car.

well we took a lil break on it. now it's time to get back to it.

we last left off with priming the R. 1/4 panel. since then we've put the doors, hood and deck lid back on. the fenders moved around to much to do body work off the car. align the doors make sure all was good before blow it all apart for paint.
