Ive found by the time you buy all the materials and add up all the time it takes to build, you're better off buying a nice used one. It will cost almost the same and save you a bunch of time, and when you go to sell it, it wont be a "homemade" trailer. If you build it, you'll have to mess around with the DOT and getting a ***le/vin for it. Not worth it IMO.

I already have one. I was looking for ideas to see what others have done to "personalize" them. I bought mine to haul my Harley, but I had a stroke in January and lost all but a little of my balance. I am no longer allowed to drive so I had to sell the bike. I had to retire after working all my life and it gets pretty boring. I do some things around the house to keep myself going. Thanks for the info :).

Oh, sorry about that, I thought you were looking to build one. Sorry to hear about your stroke, I can understand how you must get bored not being able to drive anymore. Unfortunately I dont have any tips or ideas on customizing a trailer, but there may be something over at garagejournal.com.
