I saw Rick Dore's 1940 Pontiac custom "Decadence" go for sale a month or so ago. Most of his stuff just doesn't do it for me... this one DOES: http://www.theautocollections.com/index.cfm?key=1374&action=details&tab=inventory God only knows what they are asking for it. -murph
That car is amazing. In fact a lot of stuff that Rick Dore builds is amazing. Sure, some of the stuff is a bit more polished then the hell-bent-for-traditional-customs guy might like (tilt columns and aftermarket steering wheels, some of his wheel choices, etc.) but I think his cars flow like a true custom should - improving the lines without taking it too far. That tangerine '36 is in my top 5 favorite customs...the rear bumper work on his '53 Buick is insane...hell, he even improved the lines on that first '57 Buick that he built, and I've always seen the '57 as being Buick's FIRST "factory custom"! Thanks for the link...great shots of a killer car. Curt
That car is gorgeous! Don't even look at the engine or wheels, look at the curves.....excuse me, I uh gotta do something....-MIKE
That is a beautiful car, I really dig the carson top. I like the color too, I think thats the color i want for my 53.
A little O/T kinda; but isn't that Pat Ganahl's 48 Chevy 4-door for sale in the March issue of Hemmings..? page 310
Maybe they are all making space for some new projects? and with the push in the car world towards the more traditional style maybe we'll see somthing cool?!?!
It's a nice, tasteful car with clean lines. A lot of things on it aren't really my style, but I can appreciate it as a well conceived car regardless.
Now that car has cl***..I personally dont care for the engine but....ehhhh As far as sellin off their herds...sometimes u gotta sell some....to build more!
I loved the car just as much when it was flat maroon. The guy who built the car has alot to be proud of.Rick Dore is the one who had the eye to know it was a winner and brought it to its full poential. However fake coverts irritate the **** out of me. I could never see building a car on this scale and not using a real cowl and doors. Stunning never the less.
I like that he kept the original dash. Dashes from that era are almost works of art in and of themselves. I didn't like the color, but that's all me cause I hate that color of green. I agree with others and say keep the hood closed. I wish I could have seen it in it's original flat maroon though, that sounds like a great color for this car. Biscuit
