went and hung out at the car show on sat. welded up the brackets for the trans. cooler and flipped the body upside down to finish gl***ing the floor on my non-traditional roadster project. drove the coupe to wally world to get a tom daniel die cast tiujana taxi i just had to have.
I practiced my striping a bit. I've done three different pieces of gl*** now. Just buying $1 picture frames and painting against grid paper. For one, I put a photo of my VW behind the gl*** and outlined it with the Mack. Came out nice enough to make my wife use the F word. Not that she needs much provocation. I really need to work on the consistency of my lines though. They're very thin and shaky. Also, we found our new house. Or at least I hope we get our hooks in it. Still working through the negotiations. I hate this stuff. But I love the house. And we can sit on the front porch and watch Dream Cruise go by. Not directly on Woodward, but within spitting distance. Big garage too. Now, will somebody buy my old house please? It's close to Woodward too. Sweet inset shelves for 1:24 scale model cars in the living room. How about this for an idea, instead of buying that cottage up north for hunting, or that Florida get away spot, buy yourself a nice Royal Oak ranch to use as a summer cruising headquarters. Then you can pull your rod out and hit Woodward every morning, noon, and night. Plus the guy 2 houses down has a '51 Poncho. It would be funny if I advertised the house this way out in the real world, wouldn't it?
I got my **** runnin' again. Finally got the busted stud out of the block and got the Offy's on. Sounds and runs great!
I bobbed my rear frame horns 9.5" to move the spreader bar closer to the body, fabbed up a frame for the gas tank - and installed my driveshaft. I'll post some pictrues when I get home, the bob job floats my boat - it looks killer.
went to a swapmeet saturday, left at 4 in the morning!got back home around 7,sunday was snowstormcoldashelldoinnuthin day in front of the pc.
On Saturday I drove two hours one way to take Big Olds's grill pieces to a HAMB lurker that said he would weld up the holes on my pot metal grill bars. Had a GREAT visit with him and in the process learned that he also welds stainless. Just so happened I had Big Olds's stock headlite bezels and a '53 Chevy headlite bezel with me. Explained what I had in mind, combining the two, asking if welding the peaks from the '53 onto the Olds stock ones was possible. He said, sure was, and he could actually do it. I'm so excited, Big Olds's headlite bezels will be peaked to match the top of the fenders!!! Drove home and was so pumped up got a TON of stuff done around the house Saturday nite and Sunday.
Helped Zman with his roadster, started coming up with ideas for my hotrod so when I got home I made up a list of what I'd like to see. I figured it'd be colder than hell but it turned out to be a pretty nice day.
Took the third member out of my '57 Ford nine inch a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mine sets up posi rearends so I traded him straight across my 3:50 gear for a 3:00 gear. He set it all up with the right clearances and such. I had a friend help me get it back in this weekend with new axle bearings and seals. Now I can keep up with my buddies that want to run 75-80 m.p.h. on the interstate without turning my engine 35-36 hundred r.p.m. Now I need to catch a good day to get the speedo calibrated. I have a electronic speedo so I should be able to get it close to correct. Had'nt started the sedan in a few weeks so I hadda charge the battery a little to get some juice. Fixed a fuel leak in the back carb and had to put a new gasket on the drivers side valve cover cause it was leaking a little. Fired it up and let it run till it heated up pretty good...everything seems to be o.k. I'm ready to roll...just need some good weather. Noticed the sedan had just turned 11,000 mi. Not too bad for 3 summers on the road. See y'all in 4-6 weeks when the weather breaks here in the Midwest.
I hauled Buickinabucket's new '30 A Cabrio home. Then we precariously unloaded it off the trailer on a 35 degree angle and greased it down with Crisco to SQUEEZE it into the garage behind the T. I am sure pics will follow today from Buick..!
Started pulling the old front crossmember so I can put the new one in. Got the easy stuff done and spent a couple hours crawling around under the car trying to find the easiest way to get this done and figure out what needed to come off. Did some grinding on my broken horn ring so it doesn't look broken now. Got my new toeboard seal in the mail, so I put the gearshift back in. As I tightened everything up, I realized I'd forgotten to reinstall a spring, so I called it a night.
LOL, Absolutely nothing! But I guess I should post some pics of the 58 impala so far since I have been non stop on it since Nov.........Satin
Slapped flywheel, clutch and pressure plate on Ford, as well as fit the shifter into it...not much, but also went to Autorama.
