Hot Rods Where is my vin located on 40 Chevy 2 door sedan?

Does anyone know what the number on vin would start with? Number on ***le starts with 449. Thanks for any help.

 

The number tag on my 47 Chev was on the right door post.

 

The tag is rivited to the floor in front of the corner of the front seat on the p***enger side. If yours is like mine or 100s of others the floor will have rusted away and the tag went with it.

The firewall tag is only for body serial number and color codes and such. PM me if you want to talk about it.

 

My serial # is riveted to the front frame crossmember,on my 40 pontiac coupe.Gary

 

mine is on the firewall , no , wait a minute thats my h.a.m.b. Tag.
on the door / floor.

 

The VIN on the pre 55 chevies was the motor number. As with many yours maybe long gone.

 

Wrong...its like Aaggie said, floor board next the front seat on the p***enger side.
