Not posting this to brag, but every once in a while I step back and go DAMMMMMMMMMM! Shop shot, its hard to believe I get to play around this stuff every day.
I work in this shop. A&A Restoration. Most of the cars are for customers. The 32 5 window is a spec car, the 33 3 window is the boss' drag/salt car. The T belongs to one of the young guys that is a part timer. Like I said, every once in a while I realize whats we have going on. Today I was taking pics of a customers car when it struck me. Life is rough when this becomes an everyday scene
Lucky ******!!! It still amazes me that all in the shop are in stripped condition too... Not too many places in the country could a car(s) sit like that and not rust on sight...
Reminds me of my days in a restoration shop, only the cars were Bugatti and Ferrari, it was always fun to work on them.
Actually the 33 3 window MIGHT be the only one that is the same. This is the 3rd 3 window 32 and about the 3rd 5w since you were here Charlie. We just tend to do a lot of Model As-34s. You cant see the 62 that is getting a 409 in any of the pics.
Naw, you cant have them all! But, working here has opened my eyes to what can be done. Most of these cars were worse than the 34 Choprods was selling. It is fun to save cars that most think are too far gone. the 33 5window is neamed the O2 coupe because it started as thin air. The only part of that car that was above ground was about 6" of the p***enger side. It was an old hotrod in the 50s that a guy was killed in. Some farmer bought it after the wreck and installed the Merc flatty into a grain truck then pushed the car into a dry creek. The owner LITTERALLY dug it out with a backhoe!
Reminds me of a buddy of mine. 32 Vic. 32 3 window (Just sold it) 32 5 window (just sold that one too) 32 roadsters (3 of them) and that's just the deuces.
Your place of employment, recent build of a rod, a new house and garage in the work's. You should be very gratefull for your situation.
Dont think that thought hasnt crossed my mind. Sure, I could be making more money but I have always just worked in a job I enjoy. Prior to the rodshop I spent 12 years selling hi end bicycles. I cant imagine working in a job I hate.
Ahhh, just needed to yank yer chain a little, Trent. You're right though, nice things inspire nice things and good feelings... Charlie
Great pic's, far more interesting than what I see at work. Might be easier to drag myself in, in the morning.
What is even more intertesting and cooler is that several of the HAMBers that have replied have visited our little shop! I love playing host/tour guide out here inthe hills. BobK, TomH,Eyeball and others can attest, good cruising and cold beers are something that makes the Black Hills a blast!
