wow... that's the exact color mine was when I bought it (completely in pieces) good job, the stance looks great
Leonard, The stance looks great! My front springs look pretty much like yours, maybe a tiny bit flatter. Let us know how it rides after you've driven it some more!
yes, you can reverse a flip install. i think if you're gonna lower the front another 2", with the rear flip you should be just right. thanks man.... it has grown on me, but i wish i had mine black like yours... sure will... i WILL be putting 100 miles on it this weekend for sure. im wondering if i could install a shorter leaf upside down on top op the main leaf, to help stiffen it up a little ? take care. leonard
ok guys, here are osme pics of it all cleaned up and with the cover completely off. cant wait for the weekend to put some miles on it... also, i was tired of looking at my factory horn ****on, and seen some guys on here who had those bullet style horn ****ons. i got a hold of nightprowlers.com and ordered one of their 3" bullets. they have a strap tack welded to the inside of them with a 1/4-20 nut inside, and you drill a hole in the center of your original horn ****on, and use some 1/4-20 all thread and screw the bullet to your horn.... but, when i did that it kind of sat too high for me, and when i would bump it with my hand while driving, the old/new ****on would pop off my original inner horn ring.... so, i got a small piece of 1" wide flat bar, drilled 3 holes in it, one threaded 1/4-20 in the middle and the 2 outer holes clearance holes for 5/16-18 bolt. screwed a length of 1/4-20 all thread to the center, and screwed it down into the two 5/15-18 holes that you use when pulling your steering wheel. the screwed the bullet to it, and i now have a sturdy bullet horn ****on..... it dont work, just for show, but that dont bother me, since my horn never worked anyway. leonard
What a gorgeous ride! Thank you for sharing... I'm undecided myself about the flip or an all-out conversion to a truckarm setup from my old '71 with the twelve bolt. Again thank you for the food for thought.
By the way... what do you folks do for the camaro front clip swap when it comes time for a steering column? is it the van column that works best? Thanking you in advance for your reply...
ok guys, i put just under 100 miles on it this weekend and it drives great. had it up to 75mph a few times and smooth as an arrow. of course, on the bigger bumps in the road, my front does bottom out on the frame. the little hump bracket that the u-bolts go over hit the frame before the rear section of the leafs contact my trimmed factory bump stops, so i will use some 3/16 thick rubber from an old boat trailer mud flap and make be a bump stop in that area, like i did on my rear. at least it wont be metal to metal contact. leonard
Ok, tell me about extended shackles and taking out leafs out back??? I tihnk I want too try that. Where did you get extended shackles?
i believe i got the extended shackles here, or one of the other vendors. http://www.performanceonline.com/1955-59-CHEVY-CHEVY-GMC-SHACKLE-SET-REAR-EXTENDED-RES5559/ and after that, all i did was take out 4 of the 7 original leafs, leaving 3 in the pack. its pretty simple and rode really good. leonard
